Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you
Why this matters to you: One Series 2 rating does not fit every sleeping position. Check your own position's score before using the result to choose.
For sleepers above 230 lbs, Sleep Foundation's Series 2 fit score is highest for side sleepers. Back sleepers rank next, then stomach sleepers. Use your usual position's result before deciding.

Chapter 03
Compare the mattresses
Why this matters to you: Choose a build and firmness that fit your needs before checking the cost. That keeps comfort and budget in view.
Back Science® mattresses vary in build, height, firmness, and Queen price. Compare those choices together to find a model that fits your comfort needs and budget, rather than picking by one detail alone.
Start with your budget and comfort priorities. Then compare each model's firmness, construction, and height. The layer order shows how each bed is built, from its surface down to its support parts.
Choose a model whose listed features match your needs, then make sure its price works for you. One detail alone cannot tell you whether the whole bed is the right fit.

Chapter 05
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Why this matters to you: A repair claim can still cost money. Check the claim terms before choosing a model.
Back Science's foam certification and warranty terms give two durability clues: a foam standard and repair rules. Neither predicts how the finished mattress will wear at home. Use the terms to weigh claim risk.
Back Science lists Essentials as all foam. Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 use U.S. steel coils and Hypergel comfort layers. It says BioGreen® foam is CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® standards cover foam content, emissions, and durability. That supports a foam check, not a wear forecast for the whole bed.
What to watch for, and when:
Sag threshold: Back Science says it will repair or replace a mattress that sags more than 3/4 of an inch. That is the claim cutoff.
First 10 years: Back Science says repairs for defective parts, labor, or materials cost nothing. You pay shipping and handling.
From year 11: Back Science says customers pay a prorated amount for defective mattress returns. The amount is years owned divided by 30, then multiplied by mattress cost. Shipping and handling also apply. Partial years round up.
Who owns Back Science®: A division of Reliefmart, Corp., founded in 1999 and incorporated as a standalone company in 2001.
Where sources disagree
Series 2 firmness: Back Science calls Series 2 Luxury Firm. Sleep Foundation rates its firm (7) version 8.5 overall.
Series 3 firmness: Back Science's product page calls Series 3 Medium Firm. Its FAQ calls it Medium.
Back Science lists a 20-year limited warranty for Essentials. It lists a 30-year limited warranty for Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3. Compare your model's term with its repair risk, not expected wear.

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal
Why this matters to you: Plan around the wait and setup cost before scheduling a move. Your address affects both.
Plan for 2 to 3 weeks of manufacturing. Mattresses usually leave the facility within 1 to 2 business days after production. They usually arrive within 1 week of leaving.
Back Science offers free nationwide mattress delivery. Hybrid mattresses ship full size by freight in a mattress-size box. Back Science® Essentials Mattress ships compressed and rolled by standard carrier. White-glove setup is available on all mattress orders. Most Southern California deliveries include setup at no charge. For national delivery, white-glove setup adds $199. Check the arrival window and setup price for your address before ordering.
Typical wait: Usually 2 to 3 weeks for manufacturing, then 1 to 2 business days to leave the facility, and usually within 1 week in transit
Production: The factory makes most mattresses after you order.
Dispatch: The mattress leaves after production.
Transit: The mattress travels to your address.
White-glove setup: The service carries the mattress inside, up stairs if needed. It sets up the mattress and matching foundation or adjustable base.

Chapter 08
Terms checked on the brand's site · recheck before you buy
What do the warranties cover?
Why this matters to you: The base and sag rules can affect a defect claim. Check them before buying so you know what could limit coverage.
Back Science's warranty covers repairs for defective parts, labor, and materials. A qualifying sag can lead to repair or replacement. Your claim cost depends on the ownership year, so check the payment terms before you buy.
If liquid may collect on the cover, use a fully waterproof protector.
Warranty length: Essentials: 20 years; Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3: 30 years
Coverage over time: First 10 years: repairs for defective parts, labor, or materials cost nothing. From year 11: you pay a prorated amount for a defective mattress return. It equals years owned divided by 30, multiplied by mattress cost. Partial years round up to the next full year.
Dip depth rule: More than 3/4 inch of sag
What voids it or is not covered: Liquid seepage into the mattress voids the warranty. Back Science's warranty excludes post-delivery damage from food, drink, urine, punctures, pet damage, or cigarette burns. Cosmetic foam changes are not defects. Damage from an improper foundation is not covered.
Who pays shipping on a claim: You pay shipping and handling for every warranty claim.

Customer reviews and complaints
Why this matters to you: A score alone cannot tell you whether a complaint matches your needs. Check the delivery and comfort concerns before using review ratings to choose.
Trustpilot and Google reviews shown by Birdeye are separate customer pools, each read on 2026-10-15. Use each pool's comments with its own rating when judging feedback.

Check delivery timing if a set arrival date matters to you.
Consider initial feel if mattress comfort is a key choice.
The audit covers the Back Science Trustpilot review page and Google reviews shown by Birdeye on 2026-10-15. It records each pool's displayed rating and review count, plus one positive and one concern.
Read each platform on its own: who runs it, its rating scale, how many reviews it has, and the date we checked it.
Reported praise and concerns:
A Trustpilot review praises easy ordering and helpful customer support.
A Trustpilot review cites a long wait from order to shipping and delivery coordination.
A Google review praises helpful, knowledgeable in-store guidance.
