The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary
Bemco publishes its models and warranty terms, but no prices, trial length or delivery terms. The brand says its beds are made in a family-owned factory in Springfield, Illinois, and that it has been in business since 1969. The warranty length depends on the model name. According to the BBB, the company grade is A+, and the business is accredited since 1/31/2019. That is a company grade, not a customer rating. Before you buy, get the price, the return terms and the warranty period for your exact model in writing.

Key Strengths
Luxury Gel lists a gel memory foam comfort layer, and the maker says it gives pressure relief.
The warranty page names the frame and support it expects for each bed size.
The warranty defines sagging by depth: a compression of 1 ½ inches.
Good to Know
The brand's pages show no price for any model listed here, so ask the seller for a quote.
The brand publishes no trial length or return fee, so get both in writing ahead of payment.
Check the tag on the mattress before you buy, since it sets your warranty period.
Bemco suits you if you want a named maker and a written warranty, but price, trial and delivery terms are missing from its pages. Get those from the seller before you decide.
Outside review scores
Review sites checked: NapLab, RTINGS, Sleep Foundation, Mattress Clarity, Sleepopolis, Good Housekeeping, NY Times Wirecutter and Consumer Reports (no Bemco review found on any). Their scores: None found. Model they tested: None found. Each site tests in its own way, so read each row on its own.
Not yet, unless a seller gives you the price and return terms in writing. Bemco's pages list models, build notes and a warranty, but leave out cost and trial length. Pick a model first, then price it.
Since 1969
In business
The brand says it builds its beds start to finish in a family-owned Springfield, Illinois factory, and it has been in business since 1969. The chapter on how well the beds hold up has the history.

BBB company grade
The BBB profile shows a company grade of A+ and lists the business as accredited since 1/31/2019. A company grade is not a customer rating.
By model name
Warranty period
The warranty period is set by the model name on the law tag, so two Bemco beds can carry different terms. The warranty chapter covers the base rules.
When Bemco makes sense
You want a named factory and a written warranty before you buy.
You want a gel memory foam layer: Luxury Gel and Coastal Dreams 10 list one.
You want a flippable bed: the three Clayton models are filed that way.
You want a sag depth stated up front: the warranty defines it.
When Another Mattress May Suit You Better
You need a price before you visit: the brand lists none.
You want a trial period in writing: no trial length appears on the brand's pages.
You want foam density numbers: the brand lists none for any model.

Reading the scores
Why we don't average the scores
Each review site scores in its own way, so we would show each score beside the bed it covers and never blend them. No outside score rows appear for Bemco. The BBB grade rates the company, not the bed, and stays out of any average.
Use the dates and sources shown with each result. Prices, models and policies can change.
Chapter 02
Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you
Why this matters to you: Comfort labels are the brand's own words, and a few models show one. Try two or three beds before you settle, since a label cannot tell you how a bed feels under you.
Bemco shows comfort labels for a few models, and it has no fit chart by body weight or sleep position. Use the labels to shortlist beds, then lie on them.
On the brand's scale, a lower comfort number goes with a firmer label: Super Firm sits below Firm, and Firm sits below Medium Plush. Clayton Firm Flip is labeled Super Firm. Luxury Gel is labeled 3 firm, and it lists gel memory foam. Clayton Plush Flip and Clayton Pillowtop Flip read Medium Plush. Coastal Dreams 10 shows level 6 with no label name. The other models show no comfort label on the brand's pages.
Two Clayton models share the Medium Plush label, so the label alone will not separate them. Lie on both, or find out from the seller what the extra center support in the Pillowtop changes. Whatever you pick, get the return terms on paper first, because no trial length is published.
Firmness finder
No sourced pick yet
No fit chart published
The brand publishes no fit chart by sleeper weight or position, so the finder shows no pick. Compare the models in the table, then try two in person or ask the seller for return terms in writing.
Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.
Figure 2.1: Four checks to run in a store, lying still in the position you sleep in most. The store test in chapter 11 says how long to lie on each bed.
Chapter 03
Compare the mattresses
Why this matters to you: The eight models on this page come from different lines and use different builds. Match the comfort label and build first, then ask each seller for the price.
The table sets each model beside the build details the brand publishes. Where the brand gives no number, the cell says so.
Few models come with a full build list. The three Clayton Flip models list one shared coil system, and Coastal Dreams 10 lists gel memory foam and other foam layers instead of coils. Prices, coil counts and foam densities are not published. Only Coastal Dreams 10 has a published height, and two more names carry one, so most cells read Not published.
ILD is a rating for how firm a foam feels, and a higher number means firmer foam. The brand lists 70 ILD edge for the Clayton models. That is the edge foam only, and no rating is given for the other layers. The brand says the firm edge gives you a good place to sit.

Mattress prices and value
Why this matters to you: The brand shows no price for any model, so you cannot compare cost until you have a written quote. Ask for one price that covers your size, the mattress and its foundation.
No Bemco model or size has a price on the brand's pages. It also publishes no size grid with dimensions, so the grid below stays empty.
A quote is the only way to learn the cost. Ask the seller to price the mattress and its matching foundation together. The warranty covers sagging only if the bed sat on a matching foundation, so a mattress bought alone can cost you the sag coverage.
Also ask which size the quote covers, and get the return terms with it, since neither is published.
Sizes and prices: none published by the brand
White-glove delivery, setup, and old-mattress removal are covered in Delivery & Setup.
Prices and sales discounts come from current brand catalogs. Prices may change during holiday promotions.
Are the expensive ones worth it?

Chapter 05
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy, and Bemco gives a warranty and a sag depth but no wear test. Use the warranty terms as your guide, not the tufting claim.
Bemco gives a warranty and says tufting helps its better beds last. Neither is an outside durability test.
The maker says it button tufts its better products so they last longer than traditional mattresses. That is a claim about how the bed is made, not a wear test. In the store, press the surface and the edges and feel for lumps or soft spots.
What to watch for, and when:
Warranty period: it follows the model name on the law tag, so check it before you buy.
Sag and frame rules: the warranty chapter lists them, and they decide whether a claim can succeed.

Company History & Model Evolution
Bemco's story here is one dated entry, the start year from the About Us page and the BBB profile. Launch years and ownership changes are not published, so this is not a full history.
The About Us page and the BBB profile give the same start year. The maker says its family-owned Springfield, Illinois factory builds its mattresses start to finish.

Where sources disagree
The prototypes page lists Coastal Dream, but the shop and product page read COASTAL DREAMS 10". Research could not match the two, so the lineup table shows no status for it.
The prototypes page also lists Calm Night Gel and Caroline ET, while the shop lists Calm Nights Gel and Caroline Pillowtop. This page treats each pair as one bed, and the brand does not say so.
The brand's shop also lists beds filed under the Spring Air and Chattam and Wells names. This page leaves those out.

What do the warranties cover?
Why this matters to you: Damage from the wrong frame or foundation is listed under the warranty exclusions. Set the bed up on the base the warranty names, or a sag claim may fail.
The brand warrants the mattress against maker defects. Sag coverage depends on your base, so read the base rules first.
SBI Mattress Inc. gives the warranty, and its text reads: Free from defects in materials and craftsmanship; periods specified on reverse by model name. The period is not one number for the whole brand. It depends on the model named on your mattress law tag, so read that tag before you buy, and ask the seller to write the period down for your model.
The brand defines sagging as a severe compression of the mattress that is 1 ½ inches deep. Sag is covered only if the mattress sat on a matching foundation on a proper frame with center support the whole time. A dip smaller than that depth is not a sag by the brand's rule, so measure before you file.
The brand lists damage from an inappropriate frame or a non-matching box spring or foundation under its warranty exclusions. That is an exclusion, not a promise that the warranty is void, but it can sink a claim. The table below lists the frame and base rules by type, so check yours against it.
Covered when the dip is deeper than 1 ½ inches, measured with nobody on the bed.
Strip the bed down to the mattress and wait a few hours so the top layers can recover.
Lay a straight edge (a broom handle or long level) across the dip, resting on the flat parts.
Measure from the edge down to the deepest point, then photograph the ruler for your claim.

Customer reviews and complaints
Why this matters to you: A letter grade is not a star rating from customers. Do not read the BBB grade as proof that buyers love a bed.
The one outside mark we show for Bemco is the BBB letter grade, A+. It is a company grade, not a customer score.
How we read the reviews
We read the BBB profile for Bemco Mattress and recorded its letter grade, accreditation date and counts.
We treat the BBB grade as a company grade, not as a customer rating.
We do not blend the BBB grade with any customer score.
The BBB profile is for Bemco Mattress in Springfield, Illinois. According to the BBB, its grade is A+, it is accredited since 1/31/2019, and the business started in 1969. The BBB shows 0 customer reviews and 0 complaints closed in the last three years. A count of zero means the BBB has nothing to show. It does not mean no buyer has an opinion.
Read each platform on its own: who runs it, its rating scale, how many reviews it has, and the date we checked it.
Reported praise and concerns:
This page reports no customer praise or concerns for Bemco, because we sourced none.

Chapter 10
What are the mattresses made of?
Why this matters to you: The brand names layers and coil systems for some models but publishes few numbers. Knowing what each layer does helps you ask better questions.
The table lists each model's top layer, support and coils in the brand's words. Treat those words as maker claims, and note that several models list nothing.
The Clayton models list a coil system, and the brand says it gives durable support. Coastal Dreams 10 lists a foam core and gel memory foam instead. Cooling and fire barrier cells hold the brand's words or read Not published, and they are not test results.

Safety labels, and what each one covers
No certification rows appear for Bemco. If a seller names a foam label, ask for the certificate number.
Certifications
Not yet researched
We have not yet verified Bemco's certification claims with the certifiers themselves.
What these labels do and don't prove
A certificate covers only the parts it names. A label on the foam says nothing about the cover or the coils. Ask which part carries it.
Read your law tag
How to read the law tag in three steps
Why this matters to you: The sewn law tag lists what fills the bed and the model name that sets your warranty period. Read it in the store and compare it with the model page.
Law tag guide
How to read a mattress law tag
This page has no Bemco tag to show. The steps below tell you what to check on the tag of the bed you try.
The three steps
1
Check the fillings
Match the tag's fillings to the layers on the model page. Ask about any layer the page names that the tag does not.
2
Check the coils
The coil system is the support. Ask which coil system your model uses, and check the name against the model page, such as the Lura-Flex system on the Clayton models.
3
Check the base
The base under the bed can change your warranty. The brand lists damage from an inappropriate frame or foundation as an exclusion, so read the warranty chapter.
Full law tag guide, factory code decoding, and the certificate glossary live on our shared safety page.
How to read this: the law tag, the brand's own statements, and certificates each cover different things. A spec the brand doesn't publish isn't proof it's missing; it just isn't shared.
Chapter 11
Where can you try and buy the mattresses?
Why this matters to you: This page has no store list for Bemco, so you need to find out where you can try a bed and who gives you the written terms.
We did not confirm where Bemco beds are sold, so the store table stays empty. Ask a seller near you where you can lie on a model before you buy.
Before you go or order, ask for three things: the comfort label of the model, its price for your size and foundation, and the trial and return terms in writing.

General advice, not brand specs: spend ten to fifteen minutes on each bed in your usual sleep position.
Try the exact model you plan to buy, not a similar one.
Press on the edge and sit on it, since you will do that daily.
Ask which foundation goes with it and check it against the warranty rules.
Write down the price, delivery date and return terms before you leave.

Chapter 12
Bemco vs. other mattress brands
Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for both beds. Bemco's pages give no price, so you need a written quote before you compare.
No rival cards appear for Bemco. We compare when a rival's price and specs are checked and sourced.
To compare on your own, ask for the same facts on both beds: the comfort label, the build, the warranty period, and the trial and return terms in writing. Line up the foundation too, since Bemco's sag coverage depends on a matching one.
Then look for gaps. If the other bed lists a trial in nights and a return fee, and the Bemco seller gives neither, that gap is a real cost to you. If one price includes the foundation and the other does not, the lower quote may not be the better deal. Compare written quotes for the same size.
Competitor details reflect published prices and specs on the date shown. Mattress brands may update prices and trial terms over time.
Chapter 13
How we research and report
What we read for this page, and what stays unknown. Where the brand is silent, we say so.
Why this review exists: Bemco's pages list models, build notes and a warranty, but no price or trial. This page collects what those pages and one outside profile say, and it lists what they leave out.
How we check this page
What we check: the brand's About Us, warranty, prototypes and model pages, plus the BBB profile. We do not test beds.
How we word it: the brand's claims are marked as the brand's. Outside sources are named.
Stage 01Factory
Who built the bed
The warranty comes from SBI Mattress Inc., while the brand site names Bemco Associates, Inc. as the organization. The brand does not say how the two relate. Its site also lists beds under the Spring Air and Chattam and Wells names, and this page leaves those out.
Stage 02Test results
Outside test results
No outside test scores appear for Bemco. If you find one, check which model and comfort level it covered, since the site lists several lines.
Stage 03Safety
Fire safety papers and the law tag
We did not review a law tag or a fire test report for Bemco. Read the tag on the bed you try, and ask the seller about the fire barrier for your model.
Stage 04Pressure and motion
Outside pressure and motion tests
This page has no outside pressure or motion scores for Bemco. Do not treat a spec list as a comfort test.
Stage 05Reviews
Review scores, side by side
The BBB letter grade is the sole outside mark on this page. It is a company grade, so it never enters an average.
Quick Answers
Quick Answers Before You Buy
The chapters above hold the answers we could source for Bemco. Where the brand is silent, ask the seller.
Safety and materials
What is inside a Bemco Clayton Plush Flip mattress?
A coil core with foam layers on top. Bemco lists an 805 Lura-Flex coil system for the core. The comfort layers are High Density Super Soft Foam with High Density Soft Foam quilt layer. The brand does not publish foam density or coil gauge for it.
Does Bemco make gel memory foam mattresses?
Yes, at least two models do. The Luxury Gel is sold with a gel memory foam comfort layer. For the Coastal Dreams 10, the brand lists 1 1/2 in High density Conforma foam, 2 in High density gel memory foam. The brand does not publish foam density for the Luxury Gel.
Where is a Bemco mattress made?
In Illinois, says the brand. Bemco's about page reads: Family-owned factory in Springfield, Illinois since 1969. That is the brand's own claim, not a check we made.
Buying and policies
How long is the Bemco warranty, and what counts as a sag?
The length depends on your model. The warranty text reads: Free from defects in materials and craftsmanship; periods specified on reverse by model name. Ask the seller to write down the period for your model. The brand defines a sag as a severe compression of the mattress that is 1 ½ inches deep.
What bed frame does a Bemco need?
The right frame, or the sag cover can be lost. Bemco's warranty covers sagging only when the bed sits on a matching box spring or foundation, on a suitable frame with center support. It lists damage from an unfit frame as an exclusion. The frame table above shows the rules by size.
Does Bemco offer a sleep trial?
We could not find one. The brand does not publish a trial length or a return fee on its warranty or contact pages. Ask the seller for the return terms in writing before you pay.
What is Bemco's BBB rating?
A+, according to the Better Business Bureau. The BBB lists Bemco as accredited since 1/31/2019. Its profile shows 0 customer reviews and 0 closed complaints. That is a thin record, so it says little about how the beds hold up.
