The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary

Layla sells three beds, and a Queen costs $599 (list $749) for the Essential up to $1,549 (list $1,749) for the Hybrid. The two costlier beds flip over for a second feel. The brand lists no return fee. Warranty length differs by bed, so read chapter eight before you pick.

Key Strengths
  • A long home trial. Chapter six has the nights and the wait before a return.
  • No return fee is listed. The brand says: "No fees deducted, 100% of purchase price refunded".
  • A flippable feel. The Memory Foam Mattress and the Hybrid each have a soft side and a firm side.
Good to Know
  • Warranty length is not the same on every bed. The Lifetime label is for the Memory Foam Mattress. Chapter eight has the rest.
  • Prices are sale prices. We read them on Sep 28, 2026. Each shows a higher list price beside it.
  • We found no store list. Chapter eleven has the details.
Chapter 01

Is Layla the best mattress for you?

Three things decide this page: which of the three beds fits your budget, what outside sites said, and how the trial and warranty work. Layla sells from its own site.

Outside review scores
Review sites checked: Sleep Foundation and Mattress Clarity. Their scores: 2025 to 2026. Model they tested: The Essential (Sleep Foundation) and the Memory Foam Mattress (Mattress Clarity). Each site tests in its own way, so read each row on its own.

Layla suits shoppers who want a long trial and a choice of feel. Sleep Foundation gave The Essential 7.5 /10 for motion isolation. Mattress Clarity scored the Memory Foam Mattress 4 / 5. Each site uses its own scale.

7.5 /10
The Essential (Sleep Foundation, motion isolation)

This is Sleep Foundation's motion isolation score for The Essential. It is one test area, not an overall grade.

4 / 5
Memory Foam Mattress (Mattress Clarity)

This is Mattress Clarity's score for the Layla Memory Foam Mattress. It is a different scale from the first.

A+
BBB letter grade

This is the BBB letter grade. It rates how the company handles complaints, not how the bed feels.

When Layla makes sense
  • You want to spend less: The Essential has the lowest Queen price here, at $599 (list $749).
  • You want a bed you can flip: the Memory Foam Mattress has a soft side and a firm side.
  • You want springs: the Hybrid adds 1041 coils.
When Another Mattress May Suit You Better
  • You want the tallest Layla: the Hybrid is 13 inches tall.
  • You want the Lifetime label: it is on the Memory Foam Mattress.

Why we don't average the scores

Each site tests its own way, on its own scale. We show each score beside the bed it covers and never blend them into one number. We do not test beds ourselves.

Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you

Why this matters to you: Feel labels can mislead, and your own body is the best test. Lie in your usual sleep position before you decide.

We have no sourced fit chart by body weight for Layla, so we make no weight-based pick. The brand does list a feel for each bed.

The brand's overall feel range is "Medium-soft to medium-firm".

Four alignment checkpoints against a neutral posture line Neck Shoulders Lower back Hips level with spine sink in, no pinch no gap below no sag Straight spine line
  1. Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
  2. Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
  3. Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
  4. Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.

Chapter 03

Compare the mattresses

Why this matters to you: The three beds differ in build, height and price. Choose foam or springs first, then compare height and price.

The table lists each model side by side: build, height, feel and Queen price. Two beds are all foam and one adds coils.

The Essential and the Memory Foam Mattress are foam beds. The Hybrid adds coils under the foam. Read height and price together: height runs from 9 inches to 13 inches, and a Queen runs from $599 (list $749) to $1,549 (list $1,749).

Chapter 05

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. The sag rule and the base rule are the sourced clues to how long a Layla may hold up.

This page holds no lifespan estimate or wear test for any Layla bed, so the warranty terms are the best guide to durability.

Chapter eight has the terms and the sag rule.

The brand lists foam weights and firmness numbers, but it publishes no lifespan for any model. No page we read ties the build to years of use. The warranty chapter shows how a sag is judged.

What to watch for, and when:

  • First month: judge the bed after it settles. The return window opens 4 weeks after delivery.
  • During the trial: check for body dips while you can still return the bed.
  • After the trial: the warranty rules in chapter eight apply.

  • Each brand claim stands alone: we found no outside test that confirms the durability claims.
Chapter 06

Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees

Why this matters to you: Return rules decide what a home trial really costs. Check the wait and the exclusions before you order.

The brand says: "120 nights with 4 weeks to try before return". Its return fee line reads "No fees deducted, 100% of purchase price refunded".

A return cannot start right away. The brand says you "Try the product in your home" from Delivery. Then the "Return window opens, returns may be initiated" 4 weeks after delivery. Returns can start "Up to 120 nights after delivery".

What do the warranties cover?

Why this matters to you: A lifetime label has limits, and it is not on every bed. The sag rule and the base rule decide whether a claim works.

The brand says: "Lifetime warranty on the Memory Foam Mattress; 10 Year warranty on the Hybrid Mattress and The Essential by Layla; covers sagging, loss of shape, loss of height". Warranty length is not the same on every bed, and the terms set limits.

The warranty page lists terms by product. Check the line for your own model before you buy. We did not read the claim steps, fees or transfer rules, so this page states none.

How a sag is judged: the brand says "Mattress warranty covers sagging more than 1"". Base rules matter too, and the base table in this chapter lists them. A wrong base can void the claim.

Measure before you call. A dip smaller than the threshold is not covered, and the wrong base can end your coverage.

Measuring a mattress dip with a straight edge and a ruler Straight edge across the bed Dip depth Mattress, nobody lying on it

Covered when the dip is deeper than 1 inch, measured with nobody on the bed.

  1. Strip the bed down to the mattress and wait a few hours so the top layers can recover.
  2. Lay a straight edge (a broom handle or long level) across the dip, resting on the flat parts.
  3. Measure from the edge down to the deepest point, then photograph the ruler for your claim.

Review counts checked on each site · they change daily

Customer reviews and complaints

Why this matters to you: Star ratings depend on who runs the site and who can post. Weigh each pool on its own, and read the low-star reviews.

Trustpilot shows 3.0 / 5 from 9 reviews, so it is a small pool. The BBB customer reviews are a second, small pool.

How we read the reviews
  • We read four pools: Trustpilot, the BBB letter grade, the BBB customer reviews and the BBB complaint count.
  • We never add the pools together. Each one counts a different group of buyers.
  • We counted scores and review totals. We did not sort reviews by cause.

The BBB profile shows grade A+ and accreditation since 2019. Its customer reviews average 2.09 /5 stars from 11 reviews. It lists 23 complaints in the last three years. A strong grade and a low customer score can both be true.

Read each platform on its own: who runs it, its rating scale, how many reviews it has, and the date we checked it.

Reported praise and concerns:

  • We did not sort reviews by cause, so this page ranks no complaints.
  • Read the low-star reviews yourself on Trustpilot and the BBB before you buy.

What are the mattresses made of?

Why this matters to you: Foam names and seals are labels until you know what they cover. Match the tag on your bed to the brand's list before you decide.

Layla lists its layers and cover on each model page, and the table sums them up in plain words. The brand lists no fiberglass for any of the three.

The Essential has a top cover of 98% Polyester, 2% Lycra. Under it sits 2.5 lb density 9 lb ILD OpenCell+ Memory Foam over 1.5 lb density 35 lb ILD Polyurethane. The other two beds use copper-infused foam. The layer heights are not in our research.

Safety labels, and what each one covers

Layla names this outside seal. Here is what it covers:

CertiPUR-US
Foams tested and meeting CertiPUR-US standards for content, emissions, and durability
The brand says its foams carry this seal. It covers foams only, not springs or fabric.
What these labels do and don't prove

CertiPUR-US covers foams, not the whole mattress. The brand lists it for "Foams tested and meeting CertiPUR-US standards for content, emissions, and durability". Springs and fabric are not part of that line.

Read your law tag

How to read the law tag in three steps

Why this matters to you: The sewn law tag is where the maker lists what is inside. Sales pages change, so your own bed's tag is the one to trust.
Law tag guide

How to read a Layla law tag

A law tag is sewn to your own mattress. We have no copy of a Layla tag, so this section says where to look, not what one says.

The three steps

1
Bottom Cover Panel

The tag is sewn to the mattress. Match the maker's name on your tag to Layla's. Then compare the cover with the brand's list. For The Essential, the brand lists 98% Polyester, 2% Lycra.

2
Durable Core Foam

The tag lists what fills the bed. Compare the foam names with the brand's layer list. For The Essential, the brand lists 1.5 lb density, 35 lb ILD Polyurethane in the core.

3
Lux OpenCell+ Memory Foam

Look for the words glass fiber or silica. The brand lists "No fiberglass" for The Essential. If your tag names either, ask Layla.

Full law tag guide, factory code decoding, and the certificate glossary live on our shared safety page.

How to read this: the law tag, the brand's own statements, and certificates each cover different things. A spec the brand doesn't publish isn't proof it's missing; it just isn't shared.
Chapter 11

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?

Why this matters to you: Lying on a bed beats any spec. With no showrooms found, the home trial is your test.

Layla sells online. We found no store list, so a showroom visit is not a sure thing.

Before you pay, check three things: the trial rules, the return steps and who picks up the bed.

Layla vs. other mattress brands

Why this matters to you: A rival helps only when it is compared on the same facts. Until we add checked rivals, use the model table in chapter three.

This page holds no rival cards for Layla yet. We list a rival only when its terms and scores are checked on the same day.

Within Layla's own line, The Essential has the lowest Queen price at $599 (list $749). The Hybrid is the tallest at 13 inches, and its Queen price is $1,549 (list $1,749).

Competitor details reflect published prices and specs on the date shown. Mattress brands may update prices and trial terms over time.

How we research and report

What we read for this page, when, and what stays unknown. Each number names its source.

Why this review exists: Layla sells three beds with similar names that are easy to mix up. We read the brand's pages and outside reviews, and we date each check.

We do not test beds ourselves. We report what the brand and outside sites say.

How we check this page

What we check: Layla's product and policy pages, outside reviews and review sites.

Dates: we read prices and policies on Sep 28, 2026.

Proof first: a claim needs a named source, or the page says it is not found.

Stage 01 Factory

Who built the bed

The law tag card in chapter ten explains where to look. We have no Layla tag to show.

Stage 02 Test results

Outside test results

Each outside score sits beside the bed it covers in the first chapter.

Stage 03 Safety

Quick Answers

Quick Answers Before You Buy

Short answers to the questions buyers ask most, with the chapter that gives the detail.

Safety and materials

Does Layla name any safety seals?

The brand names one seal. It lists CertiPUR-US for "Foams tested and meeting CertiPUR-US standards for content, emissions, and durability". That seal is about foams, not springs or fabric.

Do Layla mattresses have fiberglass?

The brand lists "No fiberglass" for The Essential. It gives the same line for the other two beds. We did not see a law tag, so check the tag on your own bed.

What is inside the Layla Hybrid?

Coils under copper-infused foam. The brand lists 1041 coils coils in a Queen. The coil gauge is "16 gauge edge coil, 14 gauge center coil".

Buying and policies

How long is the Layla trial?

Per the brand: "120 nights with 4 weeks to try before return". It also says: "No fees deducted, 100% of purchase price refunded". The brand lists an exclusion: Flash Deal sale items not eligible for trial or returns. Read chapter six before you order.
