The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary

Slumberland is a 120-plus-store Midwest furniture chain, not a mattress factory. Its house beds are Slumbercrest (marketed as Slumbercrest by Sealy), SlumberKids and the step-up Midnight Select. You can only buy them from its own stores. They carry a 365-night reselect guarantee and 10-year non-prorated warranties, but no cash refunds. It's a good pick if you live in the Upper Midwest and want to test a bed first.

Chapter 01

Is Slumberland the best mattress for you?

Yes, if you live in the Upper Midwest and want to lie on the bed before you buy it.

Slumberland runs more than 120 stores in 12 states (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Michigan, Kansas, Wyoming and Montana), so it is one of the few places where a private-label mattress can be tested in person, and the house lines are priced well below the Sealy, Stearns and Foster and Tempur-Pedic beds sitting on the same floor - a queen Slumbercrest Regis Medium Tight Top is $299.99 on sale versus $1,379.99 for a queen Midnight Select Firm Tight Top.

It is a weaker fit if you want a true money-back sleep trial, nationwide shipping, or the kind of detailed construction disclosure DTC brands publish, because Slumberland sells no foam densities, no coil gauges and no firmness scale numbers, all mattress guarantees are reselect-only with a $199 fee and no refunds, free delivery exists only inside local store delivery zones, and the house range is narrow: two Regis feels, one 8-inch hybrid, three Midnight Select feels and four kids beds, with nothing in latex, nothing organic and no split-firmness option.

It is also a poor fit for anyone shopping from outside the Midwest footprint, because outside the delivery zone you can only pick the mattress up in a store. The house beds are best understood as store-brand value plays backed by a big local retailer's service network, not as a specialist mattress brand: choose them for price, in-store testing and local service, not for transparency, refundability or a wide menu of feels.

Chapter 02

Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you

Why this matters to you: Feel names are the brand's words, not measurements. Use them to shortlist two or three beds, then let your body decide.

Match the feel to the sleeper, not the marketing. Back and stomach sleepers and heavier buyers who want a firm, edge-supported surface: Slumbercrest 8 Inch Hybrid in firm, or Slumberland Midnight Select Firm Tight Top, whose 975-coil core with a 360-degree coil edge system gives the most support to the perimeter.

Side sleepers and pressure-point-sensitive buyers: Slumbercrest Regis Medium Pillowtop or the Midnight Select Medium Pillowtop, which add foam and pillowtop layers over the same encased-coil cores.

Couples with mixed preferences who cannot agree: the Regis Medium Tight Top or Midnight Select Medium Tight Top, both medium feel with encased coils for motion isolation, and both available in split-friendly Twin XL for a split king on an adjustable base.

Anyone who wants an oversized bed: Midnight Select is the only house family sold in SlumberKing, Slumberland's exclusive 108-inch by 80-inch size, and the site also explains Split Head King and Split King options, though specialty sizes are excluded from the 365-night guarantee.

Kids, teens, bunk beds and daybeds: SlumberKids Foam, Innerspring, Memory Foam or Hybrid, all medium or medium-firm with kid-safe fabrics, with the innerspring and hybrid adding coil support for heavier kids and the foam models for lighter ones.

Guest rooms, dorms and tight budgets: Rutherford Home 5-inch at $129.99 to $229.99, or the 8-inch at $179.99 to $279.99, with the caveat that no warranty is listed on those pages and they are simple gel-foam builds. Hot sleepers: the Regis CoolTex knit cover and the Midnight Select cooling cover are the only two cooling claims in the house range.

Hot sleepers or anyone who wants a softer than medium feel will need to look at the third-party brands on the same floor, since the house range has no plush or soft option.

Which Slumberland feel fits you?

Weight chart not yet researched

Weight and sleep position can change how a bed feels. We have not yet checked whether Slumberland publishes a fit chart by body weight, so use a trial, where one is offered, to test the bed the way you sleep at home.

Four alignment checkpoints against a neutral posture line Neck Shoulders Lower back Hips level with spine sink in, no pinch no gap below no sag Straight spine line
  1. Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
  2. Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
  3. Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
  4. Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.
Figure 2.1: Four checks to run in a store, lying still in the position you sleep in most. The store test in chapter 11 says how long to lie on each bed.

Compare the mattresses

Why this matters to you: Models from one brand can differ in feel, height and layers. Match the feel label and height to how you sleep before you compare prices.

Slumberland lists 12 models. Feel names are the brand's labels.

Slumberland's own-brand mattresses split into four families, and every model currently listed is in stock on the official site as of Sept 2026.

Slumbercrest Regis Medium Tight Top: the value entry point, $249.99 Twin to $599.99 King and California King (queen $299.99, compare-at $649.99), an innerspring with a CoolTex cool-to-the-touch knit cover, medium comfort foam, 696 individually encased coils and a 360-degree foam-encased edge, rated mild support and medium feel, 10-year non-prorated warranty.

Slumbercrest Regis Medium Pillowtop: the same 696-coil core and CoolTex cover with added pillowtop foam layers, $449.99 to $799.99 (queen $499.99, compare-at $949.99), medium feel, 10-year non-prorated warranty, and the model Slumberland's homepage promotes under the label Slumbercrest by Sealy.

Slumbercrest 8 Inch Hybrid: the budget boxed hybrid, $399.99 Twin to $699.99 King (queen $499.99), an 8-inch profile with two inches of high-density CertiPUR foam over a 682 perimeter-edge wrapped coil unit, rolled in a box, firm feel, 10-year warranty.

Slumberland Midnight Select Firm Tight Top: the step-up flagship, $1,199.99 to $2,199.99 (queen $1,379.99, compare-at $2,099.99), 975 encased coils with a full 360-degree coil edge system, Isotonic+ memory foam for pressure relief and motion isolation, and a cooling cover made with specialty fibers that draw heat and moisture away, medium support and firm feel, 10 years non-prorated, and the only house family offered in the exclusive SlumberKing size at $2,199.99.

Slumberland Midnight Select Medium Tight Top: same construction and price ladder, $1,199.99 to $2,199.99 with the queen at $1,399.99, medium feel, 10 years non-prorated. Slumberland Midnight Select Medium Pillowtop: the plushest of the three at $1,299.99 to $2,699.99 (queen $1,599.99), medium feel with a pillowtop layer, same 975-coil core, 10 years non-prorated.

SlumberKids Innerspring: a kid-focused classic with a 460-count VertiCoil support system and high-density quilt foam in a child-safe cover, $239.99 to $349.99, 10 years non-prorated. SlumberKids Foam: high-density quilt foam over a foam support core in kid-safe fabric, medium-firm, $179.99 to $269.99, 10 years non-prorated.

SlumberKids Memory Foam: gel memory foam, soft stretch knit cover and CertiPUR-US certified materials, medium-firm, $349.99 to $499.99, 10 years non-prorated. SlumberKids Hybrid: soft quilted foam over a 696-count encased coil system with gel memory foam and a kid-friendly cover, $379.99 to $649.99, 10 years non-prorated.

Rutherford Home memory foam, sold in 5-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch profiles, all gel memory foam with washable covers and CertiPUR-US claims, from $129.99 Twin to $449.99 King, and every Rutherford Home page lists no warranty at all.

Essential 10 Inch Hybrid by Stitch Seating: pocketed coils with high-density and memory foam under a knit stretch cover, compression-shipped, antimicrobial, $299 Queen to $699.99 King, and the shortest warranty in the range at six months.

Hybrid Youth by Rize Home: a low-profile three-layer hybrid memory foam youth bed with cooling gel memory foam and wrapped coils in blue, pink, camo and purple, $289.99 Twin to $369.99 Full, five-year limited warranty.

House-brand sleep accessories that pair with the beds: Slumbercrest Foundation and Low Profile Foundation, $179.99 to $379.99 with a one-year warranty; the Slumbercrest Elate 3 Inch Mattress Topper, $229.95 to $359.95 with a three-year warranty; the Slumbercrest 100 Platform Frame, $75.99 to $148.99; and Slumberland 200, 400 and 600 adjustable bases from $499.99 to $1,469.99 on clearance.

Everything else Slumberland lists as a mattress is a third-party brand it resells - Sealy (31 models including Posturepedic Dallas, Elite Albany II, Elite Brenham II, Elite High Point II, Plus Hagerstown, Pro Indianapolis, Safa Park and Winter Green II), Tempur-Pedic (24), Stearns and Foster (21), Purple (12), Ashley Sleep and Ashley Furniture (17 including the Chime and Peak 2.0 lines and Nectar), Sweetnight Luna (3) - and Slumberland does not manufacture them.

Mattress prices and value

Why this matters to you: A starting price can rise with size, base and delivery. Get the full price for your size in writing before you choose.

Prices are promotional and move constantly, but the posted spread as of Sept 2026 is wide and the house brands sit at the bottom of it. The cheapest house mattress is the 5-inch Rutherford Home memory foam at $129.99 Twin to $229.99 King; the most expensive house mattress is the Midnight Select Medium Pillowtop at $1,299.99 to $2,699.99 for a SlumberKing.

In between, the practical value picks are the Slumbercrest Regis Medium Tight Top at $249.99 to $599.99 and the Regis Medium Pillowtop at $449.99 to $799.99, which are priced against entry Sealy and Ashley beds rather than against premium lines, and the 8-inch Slumbercrest hybrid at $399.99 to $699.99, which ships rolled in a box.

The Midnight Select family at $1,199.99 and up is priced against Sealy Posturepedic Elite, Stearns and Foster Studio and entry Tempur-Pedic, and it competes mainly on coil count (975, versus 696 in the Regis) plus the SlumberKing size option.

Value caveats: every house model is shown with a steep compare-at price (Regis models are advertised at roughly 40 to 44 percent off, the 8-inch hybrid about 38 percent off, Midnight Select 31 to 33 percent off), Slumberland runs near-continuous events (Mega Sale, Labor Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, anniversary and Presidents Day collections all exist in the catalogue), and a Reddit shopper reported in July 2026 that a salesperson refused to negotiate on a Sealy price and told him to wait for the coming Fourth of July sale - so the posted sale price, not the list price, is the real price.

House-brand mattresses carry eligible-for-coupons and eligible-for-discounts tags in the catalogue, while Tempur-Pedic, Purple, Stearns and Foster and Nectar items do not, so coupons and stackable promos generally favor the house lines and Sealy. Several house models are flagged HSA/FSA eligible.

Financing is plentiful: a Slumberland Advantage credit card issued by Wells Fargo with a 28.99 percent APR on purchases for new accounts as of Sept 1, 2026 and rewards certificates up to twice a year; Affirm buy-now-pay-later in three, six, twelve or eighteen monthly payments, illustrated on the site as a $700 purchase at about $64 a month over 12 months at 15 percent APR; and Acima lease-to-own approvals from $300 to $5,000 with 12 to 24 month schedules.

There is a 30-day Low Price Guarantee that refunds the difference against a qualifying local competitor or gives $100 back if Slumberland cannot match, a military discount valid in stores every day but excluding Tempur-Pedic, Stearns and Foster, Ashley and Sealy Posturepedic Plus foam and hybrids, and a 40 Winks Foundation giveback that has donated more than 70,000 mattresses since 1991.

Chapter 05

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. Lean on the written warranty and real owner reports to judge how it will last.

No independent durability testing, foam density, sag testing or long-term field data on the house lines was published as of Sept 2026, and the lineup itself is too new for a track record: the 8-inch Slumbercrest hybrid went live in March 2024, the SlumberKids range in May 2025, the Regis beds in October 2025, the Slumberland Midnight Select trio in January 2026 and the Essential 10-inch hybrid in July 2026.

The only published durability signals are the warranty terms, and they are strikingly uneven across the house range.

The two Slumbercrest Regis beds, the Slumbercrest 8-inch hybrid, all four SlumberKids and all three Midnight Select beds carry a 10-year non-prorated warranty, which is the strongest term in the house range and a genuinely competitive number for the price; the Slumbercrest Elate topper carries three years; the Slumbercrest Foundation and Low Profile Foundation carry one year; Hybrid Youth carries a five-year limited warranty; the Essential 10-inch hybrid carries just six months; and the four Rutherford Home memory foam pages list no warranty at all, with the spec field reading only No.

Structurally, the house hybrids and innersprings should hold their shape better than the cheap foam beds because they use encased coil cores with foam-encased or 360-degree coil edge systems - 696 coils on the Regis and SlumberKids Hybrid, 682 on the 8-inch Slumbercrest, 975 on the Midnight Select - but without published foam densities or coil gauge, no honest prediction of sag life is possible.

High-density and CertiPUR-US references appear on the 8-inch Slumbercrest hybrid and the SlumberKids memory foam, and Isotonic+ memory foam is claimed to be more durable for longevity on the Midnight Select beds, but those are maker claims, not test results.

Service experience matters as much as the material here: Slumberland decides whether a warranty claim is repaired or replaced, offers free service only for the first 90 days, and after that inspection fees, delivery fees and technician labor may apply, which is the part of ownership most likely to generate friction in years three through ten.

Chapter 06

Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees

Why this matters to you: Feel is hard to judge in a store or in a week. Know your exit plan and its cost before you pay.

The headline policy is the 365-Night Sleep Guarantee, and it is a comfort guarantee, not a refund policy. To qualify you must buy both the mattress and a mattress protector from Slumberland, and you must sleep on the mattress for a minimum of 30 nights before you can act.

Between night 30 and night 365 you get one reselection of comfort, size or height, with a $199 reselect fee, no refunds at all, and applicable delivery fees on top; if the replacement costs less, the difference goes onto a Slumberland gift card or toward other merchandise. Special order sizes are excluded from the guarantee.

Furniture follows a different clock: within the first 5 days after taking possession a full refund is available, and after that, up to 30 days, a one-time reselect is available with the same $199 fee and the same gift-card treatment for any shortfall.

Top-of-bed items - protectors, encasements, sheets, blankets, comforters, pillows and toppers - can be refunded in full within 30 days if they are new in their packaging; toppers get in-store credit once opened, but opened product not in original packaging is not returnable.

The guarantee exclusions list is the important one: adjustable power bases, items exchanged for warranty claims, special order merchandise and clearance items, defined to include floor models, overstocks and customer reselection returns, are all exempt from returns and exchanges.

Special order terms are punitive - canceling a special order before taking possession incurs a 25 percent fee, and no more than 75 percent of a special order purchase can be financed. All items must be picked up or delivered within 14 days of purchase and all sales are final once possession is taken for excluded categories.

Because there is no cash refund route on mattresses, the practical exit from a mattress you dislike is a $199 reselect inside one year, with the mattress protector purchase required up front - budget for both.

Chapter 07

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal

Why this matters to you: Delivery terms decide your first week with the bed. Confirm the date, setup and old-bed removal before you pay.

Delivery is zone-based and pickup is the universal fallback.

In local delivery zones Slumberland offers free no-contact doorstep shipping, which leaves the mattress in its original packaging outside the first-floor entry, garage or loading dock with no assembly and no signature; full-service delivery is available in most local store delivery zones and is the option to choose for a mattress, with a professional team delivering to the room of your choice, unpacking and unwrapping the product, assembling it, inspecting the route and the placement, and disposing of all packing materials, with a signature required and a delivery window plus call or text ahead on request.

The full-service delivery fee is not published on the site; ask the store. Free in-store pickup is available at any Slumberland location, and everything must be picked up or delivered within 14 days of purchase. After an online order, the local store contacts you within 24 hours with an arrival estimate and to schedule delivery.

Old mattress disposal is offered but costs extra: the site states that mattress removal is available for an additional fee, that Slumberland can remove your old mattress and box spring for a small fee, and that the option appears in your cart when buying a mattress online or can be arranged by calling the store - the amount is not published anywhere, so confirm it before checkout. Furniture removal exists in select markets for a small fee.

The company also frames removal as an environmental feature, stating that it offers mattress removal and shredding to reduce landfill impact, alongside solar power at its Little Canada, Minnesota warehouse and several Minnesota stores since 2013 and broad recycling of cardboard, paper, plastics, metal, electronics and lightbulbs.

Two delivery rules worth knowing: damage to your home or product must be reported to the local store within 5 days, with Slumberland reserving the right to inspect and then repair or replace at its discretion, and doorstep shipping is not available on as-is or clearance items and may be restricted in remote areas of a market.

Typical wait: Within 14 days

Chapter 08

Terms checked on the brand's site · recheck before you buy

What do the warranties cover?

Why this matters to you: A warranty is only as good as its terms. Read the written terms and use a supported base, because the wrong frame can end coverage.

Manufacturer warranties on the house lines are the clearest consumer-facing term in the whole program, and they are explained on the product pages rather than in a downloadable warranty document. Slumbercrest Regis Medium Tight Top and Pillowtop: 10 year warranty, non prorated. Slumbercrest 8 Inch Hybrid: 10 Year Warranty.

Slumberland Midnight Select Firm Tight Top, Medium Tight Top and Medium Pillowtop: 10 Years Non Prorated. All four SlumberKids beds: 10 Year - Non Prorated. Slumbercrest Elate 3 Inch Mattress Topper: 3 Year Warranty.

Slumbercrest Foundation and Low Profile Foundation: 1 Year. Essential 10 Inch Hybrid by Stitch Seating: 6 Months. Hybrid Youth by Rize Home: 5 Year limited.

Rutherford Home 5-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch memory foam mattresses: the warranty field on every one of those product pages reads No, meaning no warranty is published.

Process matters as much as length: Slumberland states that product warranties vary by manufacturer, that it will help facilitate service under the manufacturer's terms, that it reserves the right to inspect every claim and decides whether to repair or replace at its discretion, and that there are no refunds on warranty claims.

Service inside Slumberland delivery areas is free for the first 90 days; after 90 days of the product being in your home, inspection fees, delivery fees and technician labor costs may apply, and for items outside the manufacturer's warranty Slumberland only provides a technician referral. All As-Is merchandise is final and carries no manufacturer warranty.

Separately, the optional SlumberCare+ Protection Plan is a paid add-on, not the mattress warranty: the main plan runs 5 years and covers stains, rips, tears, punctures, burns, dye transfer, structural and operational failures, with separate 5-year outdoor, 10-year adjustable base and 5-year massage chair versions; claims must be reported within 60 days of the incident, accumulation, odors, loss of resiliency, misuse and homeowner's-policy-covered damage are excluded, pet damage is limited to one incident per order, and if you never claim you receive a Don't Use, Don't Lose in-store credit voucher equal to the plan cost with a minimum purchase required.

Before buying, ask the store for the specific manufacturer warranty document for the exact model, because the ten-year non-prorated language appears in the spec table rather than in a linked PDF.

Review counts checked on each site · they change daily

Customer reviews and complaints

Why this matters to you: Star ratings depend on who posts and where. Read the low-star reviews for patterns, not just the average.

Slumberland does not run a customer-review platform for its mattresses: the site has no Yotpo, Okendo, Bazaarvoice or similar widget on product pages, there are no star ratings or review counts on any house mattress page, and /pages/write-a-review is a blank submission form rather than a review wall, so official-site social proof is essentially zero. Independent review volume is also thin.

SmartCustomer, formerly SiteJabber, shows Slumberland at 2.0 out of 5 but from only two reviews as of Sept 2026: one praised the sales staff as excellent but said after-sale service for maintenance and repairs was poor with unresolved calls, and the other described a defective first bed plus a replacement mattress that felt different from the store display, and complained that the mattress policy at the time allowed only exchange, not refund, with a $99 fee plus shipping - note that this describes an older policy, since Slumberland now advertises a 365-night guarantee with a $199 reselect fee, and the mismatch is a useful warning to confirm terms at purchase.

Reddit discussion is anecdotal but more informative about the shopping experience.

On r/Mattress a shopper in 2026 described the house line as Slumbercrest brand mattresses, which are made by Sealy specifically for Slumberland, and other users report long happy ownership of older Slumbercrest innersprings, including one who called a Slumbercrest-Sealy eurotop queen the best bed I have ever owned and another who said their Slumbercrest pillowtop is loved; a Colorado user slept on a Slumbercrest plush on vacation and slept like a baby.

Price-shopping feedback is mixed: one r/Mattress user in July 2026 said that when he tried to negotiate on a Sealy at Slumberland the salesperson told him the price is what it is and to wait for the Fourth of July sale, while r/Mattress and r/MattressMod users in mid 2026 called a Slumberland sale on a previous-generation Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Medium Hybrid a pretty decent sale.

Store-service complaints do exist but are mostly about other categories: an August 2026 r/wisconsin and r/Eau_Claire post titled Slumberland Furniture sells trash described a lift chair that quit after about 18 months and a disputed 5-year protection plan, and there is also a report of a Slumberland delivery truck sideswiping a parked car.

BBB, ConsumerAffairs, Trustpilot and Yelp were not available for this review, so their absence is not evidence of a clean record, and no aggregate Google star rating was retrievable for the brand. Bottom line: house-mattress review evidence is too sparse to be predictive - treat owner comments on older Slumbercrest beds as mildly encouraging, and treat the policy-detail and service complaints as the things to verify in writing before you buy.

What are the mattresses made of?

Why this matters to you: Layer names say little without numbers. Ask what is inside your exact model, layer by layer.

Slumberland publishes only headline materials, not a full construction spec sheet, so this is everything the house lines disclose.

Slumbercrest Regis (both feels): CoolTex knit cover made with CoolTex fibers for cool-to-the-touch surface comfort; medium comfort foam for pressure relief and support; 696 individually encased coils for support and motion isolation; a 360-degree foam-encased edge system for a stable edge; listed material contents are innerspring, fabric and foams; assembled in the USA; the pillowtop version adds pillowtop comfort layers of extra foam.

Slumbercrest 8 Inch Hybrid: an 8-inch profile with two inches of high-density CertiPUR foam and a 682 perimeter-edge wrapped coil spring unit; CertiPUR foams are described as made without flame retardants, ozone depleters, mercury and other heavy metals, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP Tris flame retardants, phthalates and formaldehyde; listed contents high-density foam and metal coils; rolled in a box.

Slumberland Midnight Select (all three feels): Isotonic+ memory foam for pressure relief, motion transfer reduction and durability; 975 encased coils including a full 360-degree coil edge system for edge-to-edge support and a larger usable sleeping surface; a cooling cover made with specialty fibers that cool by drawing heat and moisture away from the body; listed contents innerspring and foam; assembled in the USA.

SlumberKids Hybrid: kid-safe fabrics, gel quilt foam, high-density soft quilt foam, gel memory foam, high-density soft support foam and a 696 encased coil system. SlumberKids Memory Foam: kid-safe fabrics, gel memory foam, high-density medium support foam and a high-density foam core. SlumberKids Foam: kid-safe fabrics, high-density quilt foam and a high-density foam core.

SlumberKids Innerspring: kid-safe fabrics, high-density quilt foam and a 460-count VertiCoil support system. Rutherford Home memory foam: gel memory foam with CertiPUR-US certification on the 10 and 12-inch models, washable soft covers, and on the 12-inch specifically 2.5 inches of gel memory foam over a 9.5-inch high-density base foam; compressed and rolled in a box with a 72-hour expansion instruction.

Essential 10 Inch Hybrid: pocketed coils with high-density and memory foam under a knit stretch fabric, antimicrobial, compression-packed. Hybrid Youth: a three-layer hybrid memory foam build with cooling gel-infused memory foam, individually wrapped coils and a breathable stretch knit cover, low profile for bunk beds.

What is not published anywhere: foam densities in pounds per cubic foot, ILD or firmness numbers, coil gauge, coil counts for the Rutherford and Essential beds, foam layer thicknesses for the Regis and Midnight Select beds, or any certification beyond the CertiPUR-US references.

The Midnight Select lines carry Isotonic+ and the SlumberKids innerspring carries VertiCoil, both names associated with Sealy-family bedding, and the homepage markets Slumbercrest as Slumbercrest by Sealy; the site's own product data lists the vendor for the Regis, SlumberKids and Midnight Select beds as Sherwood Bedding - which describes itself on its own site as a Tempur+Sealy company and a private-label mattress maker for retailers - and the 8-inch Slumbercrest hybrid as MD Mattress, an Indiana private-label maker.

Country tags in the catalogue show assembled in the USA for the Regis, SlumberKids, Midnight Select, Essential Hybrid and Hybrid Youth lines, while the Rutherford Home foams are tagged Myanmar and the Slumbercrest 100 platform frame Vietnam.

Chapter 11

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?

Why this matters to you: Where you buy sets the price, the trial and who handles problems. Check the seller's terms, not just the brand's.

In stores, in the Midwest, and effectively nowhere else. Slumberland is a family-owned retailer founded by Ken Larson in Richfield, Minnesota in 1967, still run by his son Kenny Larson, and its own About page says more than 120 stores in 12 states; the store locator lists roughly 129 locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Michigan, Kansas, Wyoming and Montana.

It also franchises, having franchised since 1975, and cites number 28 on Furniture Today's Retailer Rankings in 2025 plus an Entrepreneur Top 500 Franchise listing for 2024. There is a dedicated specialty sleep format, Slumberland Mattress Plus, described as a specialty sleep store from Slumberland Furniture focused on mattresses, adjustable bases, pillows and sleep accessories, with its first location in Springfield, Missouri.

Online, slumberland.com sells the full house range including the SlumberKing sizes, but delivery is limited to local store delivery zones; outside those zones the site tells you that pickup is the only option, and the FAQ states plainly that nationwide or overseas shipping is not offered. Pickup at any Slumberland location is free.

The house mattresses are not sold by any third-party retailer - no Amazon, Wayfair or Costco listings for Slumbercrest or Midnight Select were found - and this matters because several unrelated products also use the name Slumbercrest, including a Slumbercrest 10-inch queen memory foam mattress sold on Amazon and the separate Singapore and Malaysia mattress company also called Slumberland, so buyers searching the name online can easily land on a different company's bed.

In short: this is a try-in-store, buy-in-store brand with a strong regional footprint and no national distribution channel.

Chapter 12

Slumberland vs. other mattress brands

Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for both beds. Line up price, trial and warranty for each one.

Against the national brands on its own floor, Slumberland's house lines are a price play.

A queen Slumbercrest Regis Medium Tight Top at $299.99 sits far below the Sealy Posturepedic Dallas or Safa Park beds it is displayed next to, and about a quarter of the price of a queen Sealy Posturepedic Elite or a Tempur-Pedic Adapt - and the site's own marketing of the house brand as Slumbercrest by Sealy, made for Slumberland by Sherwood Bedding, a company that describes itself as a Tempur+Sealy company, means the house bed is effectively a Sealy-family private label, so the comparison is less house brand versus Sealy than one Sealy-channel bed versus another with fewer features.

Against Sealy Posturepedic and Stearns and Foster, the house lines lose on published construction detail, surface technologies, cooling tiers and available feels, and they win on price, coupon eligibility and financing promotions.

Against the step-up Midnight Select family, the site's own premium house beds at $1,199.99 to $2,699.99, the competition is Sealy Posturepedic Elite, Stearns and Foster Studio and Estate, Tempur-Pedic Adapt and the entry Purple beds, all of which are also on the same floor; Midnight Select competes on a 975-coil count, a 360-degree coil edge system and the exclusive SlumberKing size, but it has no published foam densities and no review base, which is a real disadvantage against brands whose specs and owner reviews are widely available.

Against DTC brands such as Saatva, Nectar, Purple direct or DreamCloud, Slumberland's house beds lose decisively on the buying experience that most online shoppers care about - no money-back trial, no free returns, no nationwide shipping, no bed-in-a-box delivery outside a local zone, no published specifications and no downloadable warranty document - while winning on being physically testable in more than 120 stores and on local service and financing.

Against other regional and local factory brands and retailer house brands such as Mattress Firm's various private labels, Original Mattress Factory or Ashley's own beds, Slumberland is broadly comparable in price and warranty, with the notable differences that its best house warranties are 10 years non-prorated rather than prorated after a few years, that its kids range is unusually well developed with four models and is the rare house kids line with 10-year coverage, and that its comfort guarantee is a paid reselect rather than a refund.

Against the value Internet brands sold on Amazon and Wayfair, the Rutherford Home memory foam beds compete on price only and are the weakest house offer on paper, since those pages list no warranty at all. Scale context: Slumberland ranks 28th on Furniture Today's 2025 retailer rankings, so it is big enough to service what it sells, but it is a retailer, not a mattress specialist, and it does not control its own manufacturing.

More brand reviews to compare: Sleepy's, Slumber Solutions, Slumbercrest, Snooze Mattress Company, Snuggle-Pedic, Soaring Heart Natural Bed Company.

Competitor details reflect published prices and specs on the date shown. Mattress brands may update prices and trial terms over time.
Chapter 13

How we research and report

This page is an early draft built from our research sheet for Slumberland. We read the brand's own pages and public listings, and we do not test mattresses ourselves. Fields marked "Not yet researched" are still being checked.

Slumberland publishes no review methodology, testing protocol, sourcing standard or editorial policy as of Sept 2026.

Official sources were ranked first: the mattress hub, the Slumbercrest collection, all fourteen house-brand mattress product pages, the house foundation, topper, platform frame and adjustable base pages, and the policy pages for about us, our guarantee, delivery and pickup, FAQ, protection plan and its terms, financing, Acima leasing, military discount, franchise information, Slumberland Mattress Plus, specialty mattress sizes, Terms and Conditions and write-a-review.

Model-level facts, prices, per-size variants, stock flags, vendor names, tags and publication dates were read directly from the official Shopify product feeds for all 124 mattresses in the all-mattresses collection and the 8 products in the Slumbercrest collection. Store footprint and state list come from the stores.slumberland.com locator.

Second, manufacturers and third parties: sherwoodbedding.com was checked to establish that the Regis, SlumberKids and Midnight Select vendor describes itself as a private-label maker and a Tempur+Sealy company, which explains the Slumbercrest by Sealy homepage label; Reddit threads and comments were reviewed and quoted only where the thread, subreddit and date were visible; SmartCustomer, the successor to SiteJabber, was used for the only quantified third-party rating found.

We could not confirm ratings from BBB, ConsumerAffairs, Trustpilot, Yelp, Furniture Today, Amazon or Google Maps as of Sept 2026, so no aggregate star rating or complaint count is available for the brand. Not published by Slumberland as of Sept 2026: delivery fees, mattress removal pricing, foam densities, coil gauge and the underlying manufacturer warranty documents.

Every price, warranty length, policy term and review quote here comes from Slumberland's site, and all figures are as of Sept 2026 and subject to promotional change.

Quick Answers

Quick Answers Before You Buy

Safety and materials
Buying and policies

Is Slumbercrest made by Sealy?

Effectively yes, in channel terms. Slumberland's homepage promotes the Slumbercrest Regis as Slumbercrest by Sealy, Reddit shoppers describe Slumbercrest as made by Sealy specifically for Slumberland, and the site's own product data lists the vendor as Sherwood Bedding, which describes itself as a Tempur+Sealy company and a private-label mattress manufacturer for retailers. The 8-inch Slumbercrest hybrid is listed with a different vendor, MD Mattress.

What does a Slumberland house mattress cost?

From $129.99 for a 5-inch Rutherford Home memory foam Twin to $2,699.99 for a Midnight Select Medium Pillowtop SlumberKing. The value picks are the Slumbercrest Regis Medium Tight Top at $249.99 to $599.99 and the 8-inch Slumbercrest hybrid at $399.99 to $699.99; the premium house family is Midnight Select at $1,199.99 to $2,699.99.

Can I return a mattress for a refund?

No. Slumberland mattress guarantees are reselect-only. Buying a mattress plus a mattress protector gets you the 365-Night Sleep Guarantee, you must sleep on it at least 30 nights, and then one comfort, size or height reselection is allowed with a $199 fee and no refunds, plus any delivery fees; if you pick something cheaper the difference goes on a gift card.

How long is the warranty on the house beds?

Ten years non-prorated on the Slumbercrest Regis beds, the Slumbercrest 8-inch hybrid, all four SlumberKids beds and all three Midnight Select beds. It drops to five years limited on Hybrid Youth, three years on the Elate topper, one year on the Slumbercrest foundations, six months on the Essential 10-inch hybrid, and no warranty at all is published for the four Rutherford Home memory foam beds. Service is free for the first 90 days, then inspection, delivery and labor fees may apply, and Slumberland decides whether to repair or replace with no refunds.

Do I have to live in the Midwest?

For delivery, effectively yes. Slumberland has more than 120 stores in 12 states and delivers only inside local store delivery zones; outside those zones the site offers pickup only, and the FAQ says there is no nationwide shipping. If you are outside the footprint, your only route is to collect the mattress from a store.

Does Slumberland make anything special in size?

Yes, SlumberKing, the company's exclusive oversized size at about 108 inches wide by 80 inches long, roughly an Alaskan King alternative. It is offered on the Midnight Select family from $2,199.99, and specialty sizes are excluded from the 365-Night Sleep Guarantee.
