The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary

For most buyers, no. The PurplePlus costs $2,099 for a Queen, and the reviews give you reasons to look elsewhere. Sleepopolis rates the original Purple Mattress 3.8 stars and found poor motion isolation. Trustpilot rates Purple 1.3 from 105 reviews. The Saatva Classic is a coil bed at $1,895 for a Queen, which is $204 less. It comes in Plush Soft (3/10), Luxury Firm (5-7/10) and Firm (8/10).

The PurplePlus is an all-foam bed. It is 11 in tall, with a 2 in GelFlex Grid and a Medium feel. Saatva lists its Firm option as best for stomach sleepers.

Purple still has real pluses. Sleep Foundation scores the original Purple Mattress 8.3 and says it sleeps very cool. The PurplePlus has a fiberglass-free fire sock, and the warranty runs 10 years. The trial is 100 calendar days, but you must sleep on the bed at least 21 days. Return freight comes out of your refund.

Buy it only if you like the GelFlex Grid feel and accept return freight.

Key Strengths
  • The original sleeps very cool. Sleep Foundation scores the original Purple Mattress 8.3 and says it sleeps very cool.
  • A 100 calendar day trial. You must sleep on the bed at least 21 days before a return or exchange.
  • No fiberglass in the fire sock. The PurplePlus has a fiberglass-free fire sock, and Purple says all 11 of its models use CertiPUR-US certified foam.
Good to Know
  • Returns cost you. Freight is deducted from your refund, up to Purple's standard freight charge. Setup is $200 on Restore and select Essential mattresses.
  • Plan for the wait. Orders leave the warehouse in 1-3 business days. Ground shipping then takes 3-8 business days.
  • The feel is not for everyone. Mattress Clarity says lightweight and average-weight side sleepers may find the original too firm. Sleepopolis found poor motion isolation.
Chapter 01

Is Purple the best mattress for you?

Three questions decide this page: do you want the Grid feel, do you share a bed, and what will you pay? Answer those and the right bed is easy to spot.

Outside review scores
Review sites checked: 4 outlets. Their scores: 3.8 stars to 8.3, each on its own scale. Model they tested: Original Purple Mattress (firmness 5 to 7 out of 10). Each site tests in its own way, so read each row on its own.

No, not for most buyers. Outside scores are mixed: Sleep Foundation gives 8.3, Mattress Clarity 4.1 out of 5, and Sleepopolis 3.8 stars. Sleepopolis also found poor motion isolation, which means a partner's moves can reach you. Saatva Classic is the better fit for most shoppers. It is a coil bed at $1,895 for a Queen, against $2,099 for the PurplePlus. Buy Purple anyway if you want the GelFlex Grid feel, since Sleep Foundation found it sleeps very cool.

Reading the scores

Why we don't average the scores

Each site scores its own way, so each Purple score stands alone and no score is blended into one number. The tests cover the original Purple Mattress, while the lineup runs from Soft to Firm. A score for one model does not carry to another.

Each score comes from that outlet's own review. Prices, models and policies can change after a review.
Chapter 02

Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you

Why this matters to you: Firmness decides how well your spine stays in line. Purple sells beds from soft to firm, so the wrong pick can leave your shoulders, hips, or back sore.

Purple's feel runs from soft to firm, and the right one depends on how you sleep and what you weigh. The tool and table below use Sleep Foundation's scores for sleepers over 230 lbs.

  • Over 230 lbs: PurpleFlex scores 7.5/10 for side sleepers. Restore Hybrid scores 8/10 for back and stomach sleepers.

Chapter 03

Compare the mattresses

Why this matters to you: Every Purple bed uses GelFlex Grid, then adds foam or coils underneath. Foam beds cost less. Coil hybrids cost more and sit taller. Pick the build first, then the model.

Purple sells 11 mattresses, and they feel very different. The table lines up build, height, feel and Queen price.

Most shoppers can start with four beds. The PurpleFlex ($999) is the firm, low-cost pick. The Purple Mattress ($1,599) is medium-firm. The PurplePlus ($2,099) is a medium all-foam bed. The Restore Hybrid ($2,699) adds coils.

The rest are a step up. The RestorePremier ($4,399) is soft and uses CoolFlex coils. The Rejuvenate beds run from $5,499 to $8,799 and add a plush DreamLayer top.

Signature spec Ultra Comfort layer

The PurplePlus is Purple's all-foam bed with extra cushion. A 2 in GelFlex Grid sits on top. Under it are 2 in and 3 in layers of comfort foam, then a 4 in foam base. It stands 11 in tall and feels Medium. The brand says the Ultra Comfort layer adds cushioning and pressure relief.

It sits in the middle of the lineup. The Purple Mattress is the step down. It costs $1,599 at Queen, stands 9.25 in tall, and feels medium-firm. The PurplePlus costs $500 more and adds 1.75 in of height and a softer feel. The Restore Hybrid is the step up. It costs $2,699 at Queen, which is $600 more than the PurplePlus. It keeps a comfort foam layer and adds an 8 in coil system.

The caution is shared-bed motion. Sleepopolis gave the original Purple 3.8 stars and called its motion isolation poor (updated October 17, 2024). That review did not cover the Plus, but both beds use the Grid. If you share a bed, use the 100-day trial to check it. Purple requires at least 21 days of sleep before a return.

Best For

  • You weigh under 130 lbs and sleep on your back. Sleep Foundation testers in that range preferred the balanced feel of the all-foam Purple Plus over the firmer Restore.
  • You want a softer feel than the original Purple, with 1.75 in more height, for $500 more at Queen.
  • You want a Medium feel without coils, and you want to save $600 against the Restore Hybrid.

Consider Instead If

  • You want coils under the Grid. The Restore Hybrid adds 8 in of coils for $600 more at Queen ($2,699).
  • You want a firm feel. The PurpleFlex is Firm and costs $1,100 less at Queen ($999).
  • You want a firm coil bed for less money. The Saatva Classic costs $204 less ($1,895) and comes in Firm (8/10), which Saatva lists for stomach sleepers.

Top layer 2 in GelFlex Grid

The Purple Mattress® is the original all-foam Grid bed. A 2 in GelFlex Grid sits on top. Under it are 3.5 in of polyurethane comfort foam and a 4 in polyurethane base. It stands 9.25 in tall, and the brand calls the feel medium-firm. The fire sock is fiberglass-free.

It sits at the low end of the lineup. The PurpleFlex is the step down: firm, 8 in tall, and $999 for a Queen, which is $600 less. The PurplePlus is the step up: medium, 11 in tall, and $2,099 for a Queen, which is $500 more. The PurpleRenew costs the same $1,599 for a Queen and feels medium at 11 in.

The caution is firmness. Mattress Clarity gave it 4.1 out of 5 and says lightweight and average-weight side sleepers may find it too firm. Sleepopolis gave it 3.8 stars and noted poor motion isolation, so a restless partner may be felt.

Best For

  • You want a cool bed. Sleep Foundation scored it 8.3 overall and says it sleeps very cool.
  • You are an average-weight back sleeper. GoodBed rated its back support Exceptional (10) for that group.
  • You want a Grid bed with a medium-firm feel for under $2,000. A Queen is $1,599.

Consider Instead If

  • You sleep on your side and run light. The PurplePlus feels medium and stands 11 in tall. A Queen is $2,099, which is $500 more.
  • You want a firmer bed. The PurpleFlex is firm and costs $999 for a Queen, which is $600 less.
  • You want coils underneath. The Restore Hybrid has 8 in of coils and a medium feel at $2,699, which is $1,100 more. The Saatva Classic is another coil bed at $1,895, which is $296 more, and it has a Plush Soft (3/10) option.

The Restore Hybrid is Purple's entry coil bed. A 2 in GelFlex Grid (a stretchy, grid-shaped top layer) sits over comfort foam and an 8 in coil system. Purple calls the feel medium, and the bed stands 11.5 in tall.

A Queen costs $2,699. The RestorePlus costs $900 more at $3,599. It adds a 3 in grid and a medium-soft feel. Stepping down, the all-foam PurplePlus is $2,099, which is $600 less.

Here is the caution. Sleep Foundation rates this bed Firm (7), firmer than Purple's medium label. Its back sleepers over 130 pounds gave it very good comfort ratings. Back sleepers under that weight were less enthusiastic and said they liked the more balanced feel of the PurplePlus.

Best For

  • You are a back sleeper over 230 lbs: Sleep Foundation testers in that group scored it 8/10.
  • You sleep on your stomach and weigh over 230 lbs: the same testers also gave it 8/10, though some wanted it a tick firmer.
  • You want coils under a grid: Purple says the 8 in coil system adds support and breathability.

Consider Instead If

  • You are a back sleeper under 130 lbs: the PurplePlus is $600 cheaper at $2,099, and Sleep Foundation testers in that group liked its balanced feel.
  • You want a softer bed: the RestorePlus is medium-soft with a 3 in grid, for $900 more.
  • You want a firm stomach-sleeper feel for less: the Saatva Classic in Firm (8/10) is $1,895, which is $804 less. Saatva lists it as best for stomach sleepers.

The RestorePlus is a coil bed with a deeper foam grid on top. It has a 3 in layer of Purple's GelFlex Grid over Ultra Comfort foam and 8 in of coils set in 3 zones. Purple says the medium-soft feel eases hip, shoulder and back pain.

It sits in the middle of the Restore line. The Restore Hybrid is medium, 11.5 in tall, with a 2 in grid. It costs $2,699 for a Queen, which is $900 less. The RestorePremier is soft and uses 10 in CoolFlex coils. It costs $4,399, which is $800 more.

Plan for one extra cost. In-home setup is $200 on Restore mattresses. Use a firm, solid, non-spring base. Purple says a box spring can void the warranty.

Best For

  • You want a softer coil bed. Purple rates it medium-soft, one step softer than the Restore Hybrid.
  • You want a deeper grid layer. It has 3 in of GelFlex Grid, while the Restore Hybrid has 2 in.
  • You want fiberglass-free fire protection. Purple lists a fire sock that is not chemically treated.

Consider Instead If

  • You want to spend less. The Restore Hybrid costs $900 less than the RestorePlus in a Queen and has a medium feel.
  • You want a softer feel with cooling coils. The RestorePremier is soft, has 10 in CoolFlex coils, and costs $800 more.
  • You want a coil bed with a choice of feels. The Saatva Classic costs $1,704 less than the RestorePlus at Queen ($1,895 against $3,599) and comes in three feels.

Queen $ $999

The PurpleFlex is a firm, all-foam bed at $999 for a Queen. A 2 in GelFlex Grid sits on 6 in of polyurethane foam. The grid is Purple's stretchy, gel-like top layer. The bed is 8 in tall, and Purple says it gives firm, stable support for your spine. It is sold online only.

It sits at the low end of the lineup. The step up is the PurpleRenew, a Medium bed that is 11 in tall. It costs $1,599 for a Queen, so the step up is $600. The Purple Mattress costs $1,599 too and feels Medium-firm.

The one caution is feel. Sleep Foundation rates the Flex Firm (7) and lists it for sleepers over 130 lbs. Lighter sleepers should look at a softer Purple.

Best For

  • You want a firm bed under $1,000. A Queen is $999, down from $1,299.
  • You weigh over 130 lbs. Sleep Foundation lists back and stomach sleepers over that weight, and gave 7.5/10 for side sleepers over 230 lbs.
  • You want a plain all-foam build with a fiberglass-free fire sock.

Consider Instead If

  • You want a medium feel: the PurpleRenew is Medium and 11 in tall, for $600 more at $1,599.
  • You want coils and a choice of three feels: the Saatva Classic is $1,895 for a Queen, $896 more.
  • You weigh under 130 lbs: the Purple Mattress is Medium-firm at $1,599, $600 more.

The RestorePremier is the softest of Purple's three Restore hybrids. A 3 in GelFlex Grid sits over 10 in CoolFlex coils with Ultra Comfort foam tops. Purple says the coils move on their own and help keep the bed at a comfortable sleeping temperature.

RestorePlus is the step down. It is Medium-soft, with 8 in coils, at $3,599 for a Queen. The RestorePremier costs $800 more for the longer coils and the softer feel. The step up is the Rejuvenate at $5,499, which is $1,100 more. It is Firm, so it is a different feel, not a softer one.

The caution is setup. In-home setup costs $200 on Restore mattresses, per Purple's support page. It is free with Rejuvenate mattresses. Add that to the $4,399 Queen price.

Best For

  • You want a Soft feel. RestorePlus is Medium-soft and the Restore Hybrid is Medium.
  • You want 10 in coils under the grid. RestorePlus and Restore Hybrid use 8 in coils.
  • You like Purple's Grid but want to pay $1,100 less than the $5,499 Rejuvenate Queen.

Consider Instead If

  • You want to spend less on a similar build: RestorePlus is $800 less at $3,599 and Medium-soft.
  • You want a firmer feel: the Restore Hybrid is Medium and $1,700 less at $2,699.
  • You want coils at a much lower price: the Saatva Classic is $1,895 for a Queen, which is $2,504 less. It comes in Luxury Firm (5-7/10).

The RejuvenatePremier is a medium-soft coil hybrid built for pressure relief. Purple stacks two 2-inch GelFlex Grid layers under a plush DreamLayer top. Below sit soft Active Response+ foam and 8 inches of responsive coils. The bed stands 15.5 inches tall.

It sits near the top of the Rejuvenate line. The RejuvenatePlus (Medium, one 3-inch Grid layer) costs $6,599 for a Queen. The RejuvenateUltimate (Soft, 17.5 inches) costs $8,799. Each step is $1,100 from this $7,699 Queen. The firm Rejuvenate is $5,499.

The caution is cost and terms. Purple takes return freight out of your refund, and you must sleep on the bed 21 days before a return. Purple's warranty says a box spring voids it, so plan on a base the warranty allows.

Best For

  • You want two stacked Grid layers. Purple says they add pressure relief over a single layer.
  • You like a soft-leaning feel but won't pay $1,100 more for the Ultimate.
  • You want free in-home setup and old-bed removal. Purple lists both as free with Rejuvenate, and $200 on Restore.

Consider Instead If

  • Price is the main limit; the Saatva Classic lists a Queen at $1,895, which is $5,804 less.
  • You want a softer, taller bed; the RejuvenateUltimate is Soft and 17.5 inches for $1,100 more.
  • You want a firm feel; the Rejuvenate is Firm and costs $2,200 less at $5,499.

The Ultimate is a soft hybrid with the deepest Grid stack in the Rejuvenate line. Purple calls the feel soft and weightless. It stands 17.5 inches tall. A DreamLayer top sits over 3 inches and 2 inches of GelFlex Grid (a stretchy cushion grid). Under that are soft foam and 8 inches of coils.

It tops the Rejuvenate line. The RejuvenatePremier costs $7,699 for a Queen. The Ultimate adds $1,100 for 1 more inch of Grid and 2 more inches of height. The base Rejuvenate is $5,499, a $3,300 gap. In-home setup is free with every Rejuvenate.

The caution is the price. A Queen costs $8,799. Purple also makes you sleep on it at least 21 days before a return. Shipping charges come out of your refund, up to Purple's standard freight charge.

Best For

  • You want a soft, deep-cushion feel. Purple lists 3 in + 2 in of Grid under the DreamLayer top.
  • You want free in-home setup. It comes with Rejuvenate beds and costs $200 on Restore beds.
  • You plan to use an adjustable base. Purple approves its own bases, tested to 750 lbs.

Consider Instead If

  • Price is the sticking point: the RejuvenatePremier at $7,699 saves $1,100, and the RejuvenatePlus at $6,599 saves $2,200.
  • You want a firmer bed: the Saatva Classic has a Luxury Firm (5-7/10) option at $1,895, which is $6,904 less.

The Rejuvenate is Purple's firm hybrid. A DreamLayer top sits over 2 inches of GelFlex Grid, firm slow-recovery foam, and 8 inches of responsive coils. The brand says the DreamLayer gives soothing comfort and a cool surface. The bed is 14.5 inches tall.

The Rejuvenate costs $1,100 less than the RejuvenatePlus at Queen. The RejuvenatePlus is a Medium feel with a 3 inch Grid, at $6,599. The RejuvenatePremier is Medium-soft at $7,699. The Restore Hybrid is Medium at $2,699, which is $2,800 less than the Rejuvenate.

One caution is the warranty. It runs 10 years, but it counts only a visible dent deeper than 1 inch. Stains, or taking off the cover, can void it.

Best For

  • You want a firm feel with coils and a cool top surface.
  • You want free in-home setup, which costs $200 on the Restore beds.
  • You want the DreamLayer top and coils: the Rejuvenate costs $2,200 less than the RejuvenatePremier.

Construction Hybrid: DreamLayer top, GelFlex Grid, Active Response+ foam, and responsive coils
Profile 15.5 in

Queen $ $6,599
Top layer DreamLayer

The RejuvenatePlus is a medium-feel hybrid: foam on top and coils below. A DreamLayer top sits over 3 in of GelFlex Grid, a soft Active Response+ foam, and 8 in of coils. The brand says the DreamLayer gives a cool surface. The bed is 15.5 in tall.

It sits in the middle of the Rejuvenate line. The Rejuvenate is firm, uses a 2 in grid, and costs $5,499 for a Queen, which is $1,100 less. The RejuvenatePremier is medium-soft, stacks two 2 in grid layers, and costs $7,699, which is $1,100 more. The RejuvenateUltimate is soft and costs $8,799.

The caution is the warranty. Purple covers the mattress for 10 years, and the cover for 2 years. A claim needs a visible dent deeper than 1 inch. Removing the cover, stains, or the wrong base can void it, so read the base rules on Purple's warranty page before you buy.

Best For

  • You want a medium feel with a deeper 3 in grid than the firm Rejuvenate offers.
  • You want coils under foam, with 8 in of responsive coils below the comfort layers.
  • You want free in-home setup, which Purple includes with every Rejuvenate mattress.

  • You want a firmer bed for less money; the Rejuvenate is firm and costs $1,100 less for a Queen.
  • You want a softer feel; the RejuvenatePremier is medium-soft with two 2 in grid layers, for $1,100 more.
  • You want a coil bed at a far lower price; the Saatva Classic lists at $1,895 and comes in three feels.

The PurpleRenew is an all-foam bed with a 2 in GelFlex Grid on top. Under the Grid sit 2 in and 3 in layers of polyurethane comfort foam, then a 4 in base. It is 11 in tall and feels Medium. The cover is a premium SoftStretch fabric.

It lists the same layers as the PurplePlus, which costs $2,099 in Queen. The Renew costs $1,599, so you save $500 and keep the same stack. Step down to the PurpleFlex at $999 for a Firm 8 in bed, which is $600 less. Step up to the Restore Hybrid at $2,699, which adds coils for $1,100 more.

The caution is the return rule. Purple requires at least 21 days of sleep before a return. During the 100-day trial, shipping charges come out of your refund, up to Purple's standard freight charges.

Best For

  • You want the PurplePlus layers for $500 less in Queen.
  • You want a Medium feel that is not as firm as the PurpleFlex.
  • You want a fiberglass-free fire sock on an all-foam bed.

Consider Instead If

  • You want a firm bed. The PurpleFlex is Firm and costs $999 in Queen, $600 less.
  • You want coils. The Restore Hybrid has an 8 in coil system and costs $2,699 in Queen, $1,100 more.
  • You want a coil bed for less than the Restore Hybrid. The Saatva Classic costs $1,895 in Queen, $296 more than the Renew.

Mattress prices and value

Why this matters to you: A Queen costs from $999 for the PurpleFlex to $8,799 for the RejuvenateUltimate. Pick the model first, because it moves your bill far more than any sale.

Purple's Queens run from $999 for the PurpleFlex to $8,799 for the RejuvenateUltimate. The model you pick sets the cost, so compare bed prices before you chase a deal.

The PurplePlus runs from $1,599 for a Twin to $3,598 for a Split King. A Queen is $2,099. Only two models show a markdown: the PurpleFlex Queen is $999, down from $1,299, and the PurpleRenew Queen is $1,599, down from $1,899.

The Original Purple Mattress Queen is $1,599, which is $500 less than the PurplePlus. The PurplePlus has 5 in of comfort foam against 3.5 in, and stands 11 in tall instead of 9.25 in. The Restore Hybrid at $2,699 is the first model with coils. If you want an all-foam bed and have no special need, the Original is the cheaper way in.

Chapter 05

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Why this matters to you: Foam and coils change with use, and Purple lists its own limits. The warranty terms tell you what the maker will stand behind, so read the base and cover rules before you buy.

Purple gives a 10-year warranty on the mattress and 2 years on the cover. It covers a visible dip deeper than 1 inch. Purple also recommends replacing the bed every 7 to 10 years.

Purple says its Grid has over a thousand air channels that draw heat away. That is the maker's claim. Sleep Foundation, an outside tester, says the Purple Mattress sleeps very cool.

Purple says all 11 of its models use CertiPUR-US certified foam. That program tests foam for content, emissions, and durability. The Original has a 2 in GelFlex Grid over 3.5 in and 4 in foam layers. Restore, RestorePlus, and the Rejuvenate models use an 8 in coil system. RestorePremier uses 10 in CoolFlex coils. Do not flip the bed, because Purple says the Grid sits on one side only.

What to watch for, and when:

  • First 21 days: Purple requires at least 21 days of sleep before a return or exchange, so your body can adjust.
  • Day 100: the trial ends. After that, you pay transport on a valid warranty claim, capped at Purple's standard freight charges.
  • Years 7 to 10: Purple recommends replacing the mattress in this window.
  • Any time: a dip over 1 inch after the bed recovers is the warranty test. Leave the cover on when you check it, since removing it may void coverage.

Who owns Purple: The parent, Purple Innovation, Inc., has been the sole managing member of Purple LLC since February 2, 2018. Its Q2 2026 filing says it had engaged parties about a possible merger, sale, or other deal.

Where sources disagree

  • Owner scores clash: Amazon shows 4.5 out of 5 stars from 1,532 ratings. Trustpilot shows 1.3 from 105 reviews. Different buyers post on each site.
  • Firmness ratings clash: Sleep Foundation tested the Purple Mattress at medium firm (6/10). Mattress Clarity says 6.5/10. Sleepopolis says 7/10.
  • Outlet scores use different scales: Sleep Foundation gives 8.3, Mattress Clarity 4.1 out of 5, and Sleepopolis 3.8 stars. We do not blend them.

Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees

Why this matters to you: You get 100 calendar days from delivery to try the bed at home. A return has transportation charges taken from your refund, and listed bases, platforms, frames and headboards cannot come back.

You get 100 calendar days to try a Purple at home. A return has a freight charge taken from your refund, so know it before you order.

  • The days count from the day the bed is delivered.
  • The freight charge is capped at Purple's then-standard freight charges.
  • Listed bases, platforms, frames and headboards cannot be returned.

The clock starts the day the bed reaches your doorstep. Sleep on it at least 21 days before you ask for a return. Purple picks the bed up. Then it refunds the full product price, less any discount, accrued interest and transportation charges.

Figure 6.1: The trial at a glance: what each choice costs.

What the freight charge pays for: transportation, meaning the trip to haul the bed away. Purple says it will never deduct more than its then-standard freight charges. Check that amount on the official page before you buy.

Swapping for another feel: you get one exchange within the same 100 days, after the 21-day minimum. The bed must be clean and undamaged. Purple may add transportation charges once the swapped bed is picked up, capped at its then-standard freight charges.

Confirm the current terms on the official Purple returns page before you order.

Chapter 07

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal

Why this matters to you: Purple ships rolled, with handles, and sets down at your doorstep. Setup and old-bed removal are free with Rejuvenate, but cost $200 on Restore and select Essential models, so check your model before you pay.

Plan for about 4 to 11 business days from order to doorstep. Orders leave the warehouse within 1-3 business days, then ground shipping takes 3-8 business days.

Purple.com advertises free shipping on all mattresses. The bed comes in a rolled design with handles, so it is easy to carry to your room. Alaska and Hawaii have an extra charge. Premier delivery can take 7-10 days after the bed leaves the warehouse. In-home setup is free with every Rejuvenate. It costs $200 on Restore beds and select Essential beds, but not PurpleFlex or PurpleRenew. A $500 flat fee applies in Alaska and Hawaii, or for beds over 150 lbs.

Typical wait: 1-3 business days to ship, then 3-8 business days

  1. Leaves the warehouse: your order ships within 1-3 business days.
  2. Ground delivery: it usually arrives 3-8 business days after it leaves.
  3. Doorstep drop: the rolled bed comes to your door, with handles to help you carry it.
  4. Setup: free with Rejuvenate, or $200 on Restore and select Essential beds.
  5. Old bed: removal is free with Rejuvenate and $200 on select Essentials and Restore. In California, Purple arranges removal under state law.

What do the warranties cover?

Why this matters to you: The warranty covers a visible dip deeper than 1 inch. A poor base, stains, or a removed cover can void the claim.

Warranty claims come down to how deep the dip is and what the bed sat on. Learn both rules before you buy.

  • Sag rule: deeper than 1 inch, measured after the bed fully recovers from weight.
  • Base rule: on a frame with no extra foundation, slats no more than 3.5 inches apart, with a center support.
  • After 100 days: you pay shipping on a valid claim, up to Purple's standard freight charge.
  • How long it lasts: 10 years for the mattress; 2 years for the cover
  • How coverage drops over time: A repaired or replaced bed keeps the original purchase date
  • Dip depth it covers: Over 1 in
  • What voids it: Stains, fluid damage, a poor base, or removing the cover can void it. If you did not buy from Purple, you need proof of purchase.
  • Who pays shipping on a claim: After 100 days, you pay shipping, capped at Purple's standard freight charge

Which bed bases keep your warranty

Warranty rules

Put the mattress on one of the bases marked OK. The wrong base can limit your warranty coverage, even on a new bed.

Scroll sideways to see the whole table
Base OK? What the rule says If you use it
Slatted frame Limits apply Slats no more than 3.5 in apart on Queen, King, and Cal King with no extra foundation. Needs a center support and the required legs. Weak frame support can void coverage. Wider slat gaps break the rule.
Box spring No Use a firm, solid, non-spring foundation or an adjustable base. An unsuitable box spring voids the warranty.
Flat foundation Limits apply Firm, flat, non-spring foundation set on a bed frame. Any slats must be no more than 3.5 in apart. A poor foundation can void coverage.
Adjustable base Limits apply Base tested to 750 lb. King sizes of the listed Rejuvenate models need two TXL bases. A weak or unsuitable base can void coverage.
Purple flat foundation directly on floor No A Purple flat foundation must sit on a bed frame, never directly on the floor. Setting a flat foundation on the floor breaks the rule, and a wrong foundation voids coverage.
Metal bed frame Limits apply Frame must hold the mattress, people, and foundation. Needs a center support and legs: 5-6 for Queen, King, and Cal King, 4 for Twin and Full. A weak frame or support can void coverage.

Review counts checked on each site · counts can change

Customer reviews and complaints

Why this matters to you: Purple.com and Amazon show high scores, while Trustpilot and the BBB show far lower ones. Reading each pool on its own shows what can go wrong before you buy.

Purple.com shows 4.3 stars from 125k+ reviews, as of October 14, 2026. Trustpilot shows 1.3 from 105 reviews on the same date. Those pools disagree, so read them apart.

How we read the reviews
  • The pools are Purple.com, Trustpilot, the Better Business Bureau, Amazon and Google.
  • Each pool stays apart, and scores are never blended into one number.
  • Every score and count is as of October 14, 2026.

The BBB shows a 1.38 average from 74 customer reviews. Amazon shows 4.5 out of 5 stars from 1,532 ratings for the Queen listing. Google shows 4.8 stars from 112 reviews of the Garden City showroom, so it speaks about a store, not a mattress.

Read each platform on its own: who runs it, its rating scale, how many reviews it has, and the date we checked it.

Reported praise and concerns:

  • What owners like: a balanced feel, comfort, cool sleep, and knowledgeable showroom staff.
  • What owners dislike: poor exchange communication, weak customer service, and a price that feels high for the quality.

Chapter 10

What are the mattresses made of?

Why this matters to you: The layers set how firm the bed feels and how warm it sleeps. The fire barrier and safety labels tell you what sits under the cover.

Purple builds with GelFlex Grid, polyurethane foam and coils. The table shows each model's layers. The labels below show what each safety seal covers.

Every model has a GelFlex Grid layer near the top. It is 2 or 3 inches thick. RejuvenatePremier and RejuvenateUltimate stack a second 2-inch Grid layer under it. All four Rejuvenate models also add a DreamLayer top above the Grid. Four models are all foam: the Purple Mattress, PurplePlus, PurpleFlex and PurpleRenew. The other seven are hybrids with coils underneath. Purple says its mattresses hold no memory foam. Purple lists a fiberglass-free fire sock on all 11 models. On the four Rejuvenate models, the sock sits in the top panel, and FR Fiber is in the borders.

Safety labels, and what each one covers

Each label below covers one part of the bed. Here is what each one names.

CertiPUR-US®
Foam in all 11 models
Tests flexible polyurethane foam for content, emissions, and durability. It covers the foam only.
UL GREENGUARD Gold
Purple's flame barrier fabric
Sets lower limits on chemical fumes (VOCs) and requires California Section 01350 compliance.
What these labels do and don't prove

No label covers the whole bed. CertiPUR-US checks the foam. GREENGUARD Gold is listed for Purple's flame barrier fabric. Check which part each seal names before you trust it.

Chapter 11

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?

Why this matters to you: A bed you can lie on first is easier to trust. Check your model's sales channels before you plan a store trip, because not every Purple bed is sold in a store.

Where you can buy Purple depends on the model. Rejuvenate beds can be tried in a Purple store, while PurpleFlex is sold online only.

Where it sells: Rejuvenate: Purple.com, Purple stores, and select retailers such as Mattress Firm. PurpleFlex: online only.

Chapter 12

Purple vs. other mattress brands

Why this matters to you: This card is the best-fit rival for a firm coil bed that costs less. Its price gap is measured against the Restore Hybrid.

No brand wins at everything. The Saatva Classic costs $804 less than the Restore Hybrid Queen and has a firm option for stomach sleepers.

Purple gives you a 100-day trial to find out if its feel works for you.

The Saatva Classic is a coil bed that lists at $1,895. The Restore Hybrid is Purple's coil bed, at $2,699 in Queen. Pick the Classic if price and a firm feel matter most.

Saatva Classic mattress
Saatva Classic mattress
Firm coils, for less
Saatva Classic $1,895 (-$804)
Innerspring, 11.5 or 14.5 in, three firmness levels
Why choose over Purple: A firm coil bed, for less. Saatva lists its Firm (8/10) level as best suited for stomach sleepers. Pick it to save $804 against the Restore Hybrid Queen.
Mattress brands change prices and trial terms often, so recheck before you buy.
Quick Answers

Quick Answers Before You Buy

These are short answers to common buyer questions. Safety and materials come first, then buying and policies.

Safety and materials

Does the Purple® Mattress off-gas?

Purple says the mattress does not off-gas.

Why Does My New Product Smell?

A new-product smell is normal. Purple says it fades over time.

Does The Purple Mattress® contain any toxins?

Can the Purple® Mattress get bed bugs?

The mattress is not bed bug resistant. Purple suggests using a mattress protector.

Can you use a heated mattress pad on the Purple® Mattress?

Yes, you can use one. Purple suggests setting the pad to turn off after about an hour of use.

Will the Purple® Mattress help my lower back pain?

Pain relief is not guaranteed. Purple says the mattress is not a medical product. GoodBed rated the original Purple Exceptional (10) for back support for average-weight sleepers.

I need a mattress that will help prevent pressure sores. Will your mattress help?

Purple says it is not a medical product.

Buying and policies

Do Purple products come with a trial?

Yes, all Purple products except bases include a trial or return period. For a mattress, that is 100 calendar days from delivery. Transportation charges come out of your refund, up to Purple's then-standard freight charges.

Does the 100-night trial start when the Purple® Mattress ships or when it's delivered?

The trial starts the day the mattress is delivered to your doorstep. It does not start when the bed ships.

How many nights do I have to test the Purple® Mattress before I can return the product?

You must sleep on it for at least 21 days before a return. Purple says your body needs time to adjust to the support.

Does Purple contain memory foam?

Purple says its mattresses do not contain memory foam. The original uses a 2 inch GelFlex Grid over polyurethane foam. GoodBed found its pressure relief was not as good as traditional memory foam.

What's in the Purple® Mattress?

The original has a 2 inch GelFlex Grid on top. Under it sit 3.5 inches of polyurethane comfort foam and a 4 inch polyurethane base. Purple says the Grid adapts to your body and cradles pressure points.

Plan to replace it every 7 to 10 years. Purple calls that standard and recommended.

Is the Purple® Mattress made in the USA?

Purple says it is designed, assembled and fulfilled in the USA.

Do you need to flip the Purple® Mattress?

No, do not flip it. Purple says flipping defeats the purpose because the Grid is only on one side.
