The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary

No, not for most buyers. The Siena 10” Signature Memory Foam Mattress is the better budget pick. Siena's Queen at $329 is $660 below Essential at $989.00 and $1,400 below the Tranquillium® Mattress at $1,729.00. Sleepopolis gave the Tranquillium® Mattress 3.7 out of 5. It praised cool sleep. It warned that the thick foam may shift a stomach sleeper's spine out of line.

BedInABox gives mattresses a 120-day trial with no restocking or reshipping fee. Request a return number from day 60 through day 120. Open the mattress and let it expand within 30 days of receipt. Returns are not accepted for stains, rips, other damage, a missing law tag, or incorrect orders. Only one mattress return is allowed per household. Mattress exchanges are not accepted.

BedInABox still offers a coil option: Original Hybrid has individually pocketed coils, unlike Siena's memory foam build. Buy it only if you have a firm, solid-surface, non-spring foundation or a structurally capable adjustable base.

Compare the mattresses

Why this matters to you: The build tells you what is inside each mattress. Check it before choosing by feel or price.

BedInABox® mattresses differ in build, height, firmness and Queen price. Compare those details to find a model that fits your needs and budget.

Use the layer list to check which foams and coils make up each bed. Layer names and thicknesses help you compare the builds before choosing.

Then match the firmness label to what you want and check the Queen price against your budget. Choose by the build and feel you want, not by the model name alone.

Essential is a medium-firm, all-foam mattress. It has memory foam on top and support foam below, with no pocket coils.

Essential is the lowest-priced Queen in BedInABox's lineup, so it has no step down. Original at $1,149 costs $160 more than Essential at $989.00.

Essential has a 10-year warranty, shorter than the brand's 20-year limited warranty. Choose it only if 10 years of coverage works for you.

Best For

  • You want a medium-firm feel rather than the medium-soft Azul® Mattress or firm Tranquillium® Mattress.
  • You need a mattress under 10 inches tall. Essential is 9 in. The Siena 10” Signature Memory Foam Mattress is 10 inches tall.
  • You are set on BedInABox and want its lowest-priced Queen.

  • You want more Sure Align™ foam than Essential: Original has 8 in, while Essential has 6 in.

Mattress prices and value

Why this matters to you: A higher price does not prove better value. Check each Queen price jump against what you need.

Queen prices range from $989.00 for Essential to $2,079.00 for Eco-Lux® Mattress. That span is $1,090, so compare model details before spending more.

For a Queen, Original costs $160 more than Essential. Original Hybrid costs $110 more than Original, and Azul® Mattress costs $240 more than Original Hybrid. These steps help set your budget, not prove better value.

Tranquillium® Mattress costs $230 more than Azul® Mattress. Eco-Lux® Mattress costs $350 more than Tranquillium® Mattress. Move up only if a model's features fit your needs. Some states charge sales tax or a mattress recycling fee, so check your total at checkout.

Chapter 05

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Why this matters to you: A base that fails BedInABox's rules can void the warranty. Check your foundation before buying.
BedInABox says its foams are CertiPUR-US® certified. CertiPUR-US® says the program tests foam for durability, emissions, and content. That gives you a check on the foam materials in the listed models.

BedInABox lists 3 lb CoolRest® memory foam in Essential and Tranquillium® Mattress. Azul® Mattress has 8 in of 2 lb Sure Align™ support foam, while Eco-Lux® Mattress has 3 in of 4 lb BioLux® gel memory foam. Compare the layer specs for your model; the builds differ.

What to watch for, and when:

  • At setup: open and decompress the mattress within 30 days of receipt. BedInABox excludes mattresses outside that timing from warranty coverage.
  • Every six months: if partners have a significant weight difference, BedInABox suggests rotating the mattress. Set a reminder if that applies to your bed.

Who owns BedInABox®: Carpenter Co.

Where sources disagree

  • Firmness labels differ: BedInABox lists Tranquillium® Mattress as Firm; Sleepopolis lists it as Soft 6/10.
Chapter 06

Why this matters to you: BedInABox allows one mattress return per household, so check your size before you order.

BedInABox offers a mattress trial of 120 days, with no restocking or reshipping fee for mattress returns.

  • Call for a return number starting on the 60th day.
  • Make your request by the 120th day.

Pillows, bed frames, adjustable foundations, sheets, pads/protectors, and toppers are not eligible for a refund or trial.

A foundation return has a $50 shipping charge plus a 20% restocking fee. The foundation must be clean, complete, and in its original packaging.

BedInABox does not accept mattress exchanges. You cannot pay to swap for another mattress, and no fresh trial applies to a swap.

Check the terms for your seller and order date before buying from BedInABox®.
Chapter 07

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal

Why this matters to you: If you need your old mattress removed, confirm that service for your address before ordering.

The brand says a BedInABox mattress is ready to use within minutes of opening. Plan to unpack it when you are ready to set up the bed.

BedInABox mattresses ship rolled in a box. Shipping is free in the contiguous U.S.; California may have a fee, while Alaska and Hawaii have an added fee. Check the final charge for your address before ordering.

  1. Bring in the box: take it to the room where you will use the mattress before opening it.
  2. Remove the packaging: gently unpack the mattress.
  3. Lay it flat: use a solid or slatted surface to let it expand.

What do the warranties cover?

Why this matters to you: Claims depend on the defect and the bed base. Check support rules before setup to protect your chance of coverage.

The warranty covers material deterioration that causes a visible indentation. A sag in the foundation, adjustable base, or platform does not count.

  • If BedInABox approves a replacement, you must surrender the original product at that time.
  • Warranty length: 20-year limited warranty; Essential: full 10-year warranty
  • Coverage over time: Years 11-20 are prorated: 50% of the original purchase price in year 11, increasing 5% each later year.
  • Dip depth rule: Greater than 1 inch during years 1-5 and greater than 1.25 inches during years 6-20; Essential: greater than 1 inch during its 10-year warranty.
  • What voids it or is not covered: Unqualified bases void coverage. Exclusions include physical or cover damage, including liquid damage and stains, improper bases, and mattresses not opened and decompressed within 30 days.
  • Who pays shipping on a claim: For a warranty replacement, the purchaser pays transportation and handling costs after year 5, plus any prorated charges.

Customer reviews and complaints

Why this matters to you: Review scores can hide the cause of a bad experience. Compare each site's own pool before you trust a number.

Trustpilot showed 4.9 from 147 reviews on 2026-10-15. BBB showed a rating of 1 from 1 customer review that day. Google showed 4.8 from 1,154 reviews, also read that day.

How we read the reviews
  • We checked Trustpilot, BBB customer reviews, and Google's store page on 2026-10-15.
  • We recorded each page's displayed rating and review count separately.
  • We read visible comments or summaries for praise and stated complaint causes.

Google says its store rating uses customer reviews and partner data, so its score reflects more than reviews alone.

Read each platform on its own: who runs it, its rating scale, how many reviews it has, and the date we checked it.

Reported praise and concerns:

  • Owners praise comfort and sleep quality; Google's summary also names service, mattress quality, and value.
  • Complaints cite an Eco-Lux that felt firmer than expected, plus an order delay and no communication.

What are the mattresses made of?

Why this matters to you: Layer choices shape the bed's feel and support. Compare the comfort layers and support base before you choose.

Every listed model uses foam. Original Hybrid adds pocket coils. Compare each comfort layer, support layer, cooling feature, cover, and safety label. This shows what each bed is made of and what each label checks.

Memory foam has added substances that help it cradle and support the body. Comfort layers sit above support layers. Compare the layer depths and materials to see how each model is built.

Chapter 11

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?

Why this matters to you: Try BedInABox® at a mattress store or showroom that features the brand, where available. You can test its different mattress constructions in person before you choose.

Online, you can compare BedInABox® models, but you cannot test them before buying.

Where it sells: Online at BedInABox.com; in person at mattress stores or showrooms featuring BedInABox®, where available.

BedInABox® vs. other mattress brands

Why this matters to you: A lower Queen price matters only if the build suits you. Check each paired model and price before choosing between foam and coils.

Saatva Classic offers an innerspring with three comfort choices. BedInABox® still has individually pocketed coils in Original Hybrid.

Siena is the budget rival paired with Essential. Compare its Queen price with the build you want.

These cards pair Saatva Classic with Original Hybrid, then Siena with Essential. Each shows a Queen price and its key build. Start with the mattress style you want, then see whether the price gap is worth the trade-off.
