Pros
Cooling test. Mattress Clarity measured a rise of 6.9 degrees after seven minutes and said that indicates good cooling.
Edge support. Sleep Foundation rated edge support 8.5/10, a useful sign if you sleep near the bed's edge.
Base compatibility. Nolah says the Evolution works with adjustable bases, so it can suit that setup.
Zoned support. Nolah says its Tri-Zone™ Foam is firmest in the middle to support your lower back.
Cons
Moving weight. The Queen weighs about 115 lbs, so setup or moving it may take help.
Owner heat report. One Reviews.io owner said the bed got much hotter than expected, a concern if you sleep hot.
Firmness mismatch. One Reviews.io owner found the bed too firm, a fit risk if you dislike firm mattresses.
Plush partner fit. One Reviews.io owner found Plush too soft for a larger partner, so firmness may not suit both sleepers.
How firm is the Nolah Evolution, and which firmness should you pick?
Choose Luxury Firm for a middle feel, Plush for more cushioning, or Firm for a firmer feel. Nolah lists Plush at 4-5, Luxury Firm at 6-7, and Firm at 7-8. Sleep Foundation's readings were Medium (5) for Plush, Medium Firm (6) for Luxury Firm, and Firm (8) for Firm. Mattress Clarity scored Luxury Firm 6.5/10, while Sleepopolis rated it 7 out of 10. Is the Nolah Evolution right for your sleep position and body weight?
The Evolution's broadest fit support is for side sleepers; back and stomach guidance depends on weight and firmness. For sleepers over 230 lb, Sleep Foundation rates side, back and stomach fit 8.5, 6.0 and 5.5.
Side: Sleep Foundation says the medium and medium firm options performed well across weight groups; Firm (8) was a particularly good match for side sleepers over 230 pounds.
Back: Sleep Foundation says heavier back sleepers may prefer its pushback.
Stomach: Sleep Foundation says Firm works well at any weight, especially for people over 130 pounds.
Combination: Use your main sleep position as a guide, since the ratings differ by position.
Nolah lists a weight limit of 350 lb for Twin, Twin XL and Full; 300 lb per side and 600 lb total for Queen; and 350 lb per side and 700 lb total for King and California King. Check the per-side limit if you share a Queen. Sleep Foundation gives edge support a score of 8.5/10, a factor if you sleep near the edge.

Neck: lying on your side, ask if your pillow and the bed keep your head in line with your spine.
Shoulders: ask if the shoulder under you settles in, or if you feel a pinch after a few minutes.
Back: lying face up, slide a hand under your waist. A big gap or no room at all is a sign of a poor match.
Hips: ask if your hips dip lower than your shoulders, like lying in a shallow bowl.
Four checks: lie still for a few minutes in the position you sleep in most, then notice how each spot feels. These are comfort checks, not a medical test.Sources (2)
The Nolah Evolution may suit some back-pain shoppers, but it cannot promise relief. Nolah says its zoned foam and coils provide targeted lower-back support and help keep hips from sinking.
Yahoo Health points to luxury firm as a possible back-pain option. Mattress Nerd cautions that people with lower-back pain may find its resistance too strong. WIRED’s reviewer said the pillow top supported their back while lying on it.

Outside testers point to good cooling, not a warm sleep surface. Mattress Clarity's Caitlin recorded an initial surface reading of 67.4 degrees Fahrenheit; it increased by 6.9 degrees after seven minutes. Mattress Nerd's in-house testers found the temperature increased by less than 10 degrees, suggesting modest heat build-up in their tests.
NapLab recorded a max surface temperature of 89.7° F in its objective temperature test. That peak reading is a different measure from the temperature changes above, so treat it as separate evidence rather than a direct comparison.

You may feel a restless partner move; the outside readings do not give a clear promise of motion control. If you are a light sleeper, do not treat low bounce as proof that partner movement will stay unnoticed.
Sleepopolis rated motion isolation 5, with 21.5 inches of bounce and a High bounce rating. Mattress Clarity gave motion isolation 5/5, with 20.5 inches of bounce and a High rating. NapLab reported motion transfer 8.3, bounce height 7.77 inches, and Low bounce feel. Sleep Foundation scored the Evolution Hybrid 7.5/10 for motion isolation; NCOA gave the Luxury Firm 4/5. Nolah says the Evolution is built in this top-to-bottom order:
Organic Cotton Cover: organic cotton fibers.
Quilted Foam: foam, 1 inch.
AirFoam® Luxe: higher-density foam.
Gel Swirl Foam: gel-infused foam.
EverAdapt Transition Foam: foam.
Tri-Zone™ Foam: zoned foam, firmest in the middle for extra lumbar support.
Zoned Ascension Coils: individually wrapped and zoned, 8 inches; zoning targets support by area.
High-Density Base Foam: foam.
Nolah puts the queen-size weight at About 115 lbs, so plan for help if you need to move it. Nolah says the mattress is designed and assembled in the United States.
Layers: top to bottom, as the brand lists them. Layer order only, not to scale.
The Nolah Evolution has an organic cotton cover, with certifications tied to its foam and mattress. The brand says CertiPUR-US® applies to its polyurethane foam, which is certified free from ozone depleters, heavy metals, and chemical fire retardants.
GREENGUARD Gold applies to the mattress; the brand says it meets strict health and environmental standards for low emissions.
Nolah says the Evolution is fiberglass-free and uses a fire-retardant sock made with woven silica.
For a check on your own mattress, read its law tag. The tag lists the materials, so compare that list with the product description. This gives you a check tied to the mattress you have, rather than relying on a general description.
Nolah says the Evolution works with box springs, platform frames, slatted bases, and adjustable bases. Nolah requires a firm, solid base that can support the mattress. Slat gaps must be no more than 5.5 inches; gaps over 5.5 inches are improper and void warranty coverage. An adjustable base is compatible, but it must support the mattress continuously and sit on a proper frame that can bear its weight.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?
Sleep Doctor expects about seven or eight years, while Sleep Foundation's product testing team expects around eight or nine years of comfort. Treat both as estimates, not a guaranteed lifespan. Nolah says keep the top side up, do not flip, and rotate the mattress 180 degrees every three to six months.
Nolah's break-in period is 30 nights, so give the mattress that time before deciding whether its feel works for you.

Nolah covers defects, not overall durability. For purchases after 2025-02-01, coverage lasts while the original buyer owns and uses the bed. Covered-defect repairs or replacements cost nothing in years 1 to 10, with later replacement charges prorated.
The listed sag-depth figure is 1.5 inches. An improper or unsupportive base voids coverage; for the Evolution, slat gaps must be no more than 5.5 inches.
Owners give the Nolah Evolution positive ratings, but their praise and complaints point to different sleep needs. Sleepopolis reports 4.7 out of 5 from 1,000+ reviews on Nolah’s own website; these are brand-hosted owner reviews, not independent testing. GoodBed scores the Luxury Firm 83/100, Very Good, based on 24 owner experiences, a smaller group for one firmness option.
On Nolah’s website, owners praise less tossing and sleeping without pain, a cool feel, and easy delivery with paid setup and old-mattress removal. Those are personal experiences, not a promise of the same result.
Reviews.io feedback includes heat, a too-firm feel, a Plush model that felt too soft for a larger partner, and edge support that could be firmer. Tom’s Guide says lower-rated owner feedback mostly concerns unmet individual sleep needs, not mattress integrity. Firmness complaints run from too firm to too soft.

Has the Nolah Evolution changed since it launched?
Nolah Evolution launched in 2020. In 2022, it gained an organic cotton cover with blended cooling fiber. The 1-inch foam layer between the coils and comfort foam was removed; edge support foam was also removed, and an improved coil system now handles edge support. The coil system changed to reinforced perimeter coils made of 13.75-gauge steel. In 2023, Nolah began pouring its own foam. Added memory foam layers made it a Memory Foam Hybrid, and a third zoned-support layer went above the pocketed coils. By October 2024, the top layer was selectively hole-punched Zoned AirFoam, meant to add shoulder flexibility and lumbar support. By March 2025, shoppers could choose three firmness levels rather than medium only.
