The 30-second verdict

Yes for side sleepers; the ratings are lower for back and stomach sleepers. The catch is that fit varies by weight. Sleep Foundation rates these groups:
150 to 230 lb: side 8.5/10, back 6.0/10, stomach 5.5/10.
Over 230 lb: side 7.5/10, back 5.5/10, stomach 5.0/10. It has a medium (5/10) feel at a $1,799 Queen list price. Buy it only if you mainly sleep on your side and want a medium-feel foam bed.

Pros
  • Adjustable base fit. Nolah says the Signature is compatible with adjustable bases, so you can use that frame type.
  • Low-emissions certification. Nolah lists GREENGUARD Gold for the mattress, which meets strict standards for low emissions.
  • Foam certification. Nolah says its polyurethane foam is CertiPUR-US certified free from ozone depleters, heavy metals, and chemical fire retardants.
  • Owner rating. Reviews.io shows a 4.8 rating across 196 reviews.
  • Trial return terms. Nolah lists a 365-night trial; orders placed on or after October 7, 2026 get a full refund, while earlier orders may incur a $99 refund deduction for pickup and one-way transport.
Cons
  • Back sleeper fit. Sleep Foundation says the all-foam Signature is too soft for back sleepers over 230 lb.
  • Heavy side fit. Sleep Foundation says some side sleepers over 230 lb may find the all-foam Signature too soft.
  • Cooling score. Sleep Foundation rated temperature control 6.5/10, so cooling is not a clear strength.
  • Slat spacing. Nolah says slat gaps over 5.5 inches make a base improper and can void warranty coverage.
  • One-sided care. Nolah says not to flip the Signature and recommends rotating it 180 degrees every three to six months.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the Nolah Signature, and which firmness should you pick?

Pick Nolah's Medium (5) if you want a middle feel; Nolah rates it 5/10. Sleep Foundation (sleepfoundation.org) also rates the all-foam Signature Medium (5). Mattress Clarity (mattressclarity.com) gives the Signature 12 a 6.5/10, and Sleepopolis (sleepopolis.com) rates the Signature 12 All-Foam Hybrid 6 out of 10.

GoodBed (goodbed.com) rates the Signature 12 Medium-Firm (4) on a 1 to 9 scale, with 1 firmest. The ratings use different scales, so read each on its own terms. Together, they suggest a medium to somewhat firmer feel. Choose Medium if that range suits you; the readings do not support calling it soft or firm.

Feel & Fit

Is the Nolah Signature right for your sleep position and body weight?

The Nolah Signature rates as a better fit for side sleeping than for back or stomach sleeping in Sleep Foundation's ratings.

  • Side sleepers rate 8.5/10 for 150-230 lb and 7.5/10 for over 230 lb. Sleep Foundation says some side sleepers over 230 lb may find the all-foam model too soft.
  • Back sleepers rate 6.0/10 for 150-230 lb and 5.5/10 for over 230 lb. A 215 lb back sleeper said the all-foam model felt too soft. Sleep Foundation says it is too soft for back sleepers over 230 lb.
  • Stomach sleepers rate 5.5/10 for 150-230 lb and 5.0/10 for over 230 lb. Sleep Foundation says stomach sleepers over 130 lb found both models had too much give, letting the midsection push down.

Check the limit for your size: 300 lb for Twin, TXL, and Full; 300 lb per side for Queen, King, and Cal King, with 600 lb total. Couples should stay within both the per-side and total limits.

Is the Nolah Signature good for back pain?

The Nolah Signature's support claims cannot guarantee back-pain relief.
What the brand says:
Nolah says its AirFoam and Tri-Zone Foam are designed to enhance lower-back support while maintaining pressure relief around the shoulders. Sleepopolis also says the foams should soothe the lower back and other aches, but that is Sleepopolis's claim, not a pain-relief promise. Sleep Foundation says the Signature feels too soft for most back and stomach sleepers over 230 pounds. For that group, consider a firmer-feeling mattress.

How cool or hot does it sleep?

The Nolah Signature pairs airflow-focused materials with cooling foams, while outside testers report different temperature measures. Nolah says the breathable knit cover and perforated AirFoam® support airflow; it also lists copper-infused AirFoam® and Gel Swirl Foam. The optional GlacioTex™ Cooling Pillow Top has a cool-touch cover designed to draw out heat. Sleep Foundation rated temperature control 6.5/10. NapLab measured a maximum surface temperature of 90.2° F, and Erin at Sleepopolis recorded 75.1 degrees after a five-minute rest.

Build & Safety

How is it built?

Nolah describes the Signature as an all-foam mattress, so it has no coils. Nolah says it is assembled in the U.S.A.

  • Knit Cover: Nolah describes a breathable knit design.
  • Quilted Foam: quilted foam, 1 inch thick.
  • AirFoam®: Nolah describes it as proprietary foam with copper infusion, hole-punched in zones for soft shoulder flexibility and firm lumbar support.
  • Gel Swirl Foam: Nolah says gel-infused foam adds to the mattress’s cooling effect.
  • EverAdapt Foam: Nolah describes it as responsive transition foam above Tri-Zone™ Foam.
  • Tri-Zone™ Foam: Nolah says it is firmest in the middle for lumbar support.
  • High-Density Base Foam: stabilizing base foam, 6 inches thick.

The list follows Nolah’s top-to-bottom layer order.

Materials and certifications

The Nolah Signature has a breathable knit cover, while its certifications apply to different parts of the bed. GREENGUARD Gold applies to the mattress and covers low emissions under strict health and environmental standards. CertiPUR-US applies to its polyurethane foam, which is certified free from ozone depleters, heavy metals, and chemical fire retardants. Read these as separate claims about the mattress and foam, not as certifications for the cover.

Does the Nolah Signature have fiberglass?

Nolah describes the Signature’s fire barrier as a fire-retardant sock made with woven silica, but that description does not confirm whether it is fiberglass-free. The brand says the sock extinguishes fire before it reaches the mattress foam. Check the law tag on your mattress: it lists the materials, so you can check the makeup of the specific bed in your home.

What bed base does it need?

Nolah says the Signature works with platforms, box springs, slatted bases, and adjustable bases. Its platform guidance calls for a firm, solid surface. For slatted bases and box springs, gaps must be no more than 5.5 inches; wider gaps are improper and void warranty coverage. An adjustable base must support the mattress continuously, and the bed frame must support its weight.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

Mattress Nerd expects seven to 10 years based on the bed's materials; Sleep Foundation says the Nolah Signature likely holds to the average mattress lifespan of around six to seven years. Nolah recommends sleeping on it for 30 nights so your body can adjust and fully experience the mattress. Nolah says not to flip it; keep the top side up and rotate it by 180 degrees every three to six months.

What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?

For mattresses bought after 2025-02-01, the warranty covers sagging at 1.5 inches, but S10's base rules say slats more than 5.5 inches apart void coverage. It lasts while the original buyer owns and uses the mattress. Covered repairs or replacements cost nothing in years 1-10; after that, replacement charges are prorated, so you pay an adjusted share of the cost.

What do owners like and complain about?

Reviews.io gives the Nolah Signature a 4.8 rating from 196 reviews, with owners praising comfort and raising concerns about firmness and durability. Treat the score as a snapshot, not a promise that the mattress will suit you.

On Reviews.io, owners say it eases back pain at night, gives pressure relief they did not find on other beds, and lets them sleep through the night without aches. These are personal reports, not a guarantee of pain relief.

On Reviews.io, some owners say it feels too firm or stiff, while one owner says a king bed wore down quickly. Skip it if you need a softer feel; treat the single durability complaint as a caution, not proof of a pattern.

Has the Nolah Signature changed since it launched?

Yes. The Nolah Signature launched in 2021, and its build has changed since then. As of September 2021, it was no longer flippable and had more comfort foam, so it is not a fit if you want a mattress you can flip. After the 2023 acquisition, 3Z began pouring all of the foam used in the Nolah mattress. Nolah also began offering an optional Glaciotex cooling pillow top cover. In August 2025, Nolah updated the Signature with new gel foam and additional zoned foam layers.
