Yes for most buyers seeking a side-sleeper fit, but side sleepers over 230 pounds may sink too far into the foam to keep a neutral spine. Sleep Foundation's 160 lb side-sleeper tester found TEMPUR foam a great fit. Mattress Nerd reports several customers found it hot and uncomfortable all night. Mattress Clarity reports owner praise for pressure relief. The Zinus Original Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress is a better budget fit: its Queen price is $718, versus the TEMPUR-Adapt's Queen list price of $2,299. The brand site rates it 4.243639628853637 out of 5 stars, based on 3,341 reviews. Buy it only if this side-sleeper fit is worth the cost.

Pros
  • Motion isolation. Sleep Foundation rated motion isolation 8.5/10 and found the foam versions isolated movement best.
  • Two feel options. Tempur-Pedic offers Medium and Medium Hybrid, and says the hybrid feels slightly softer.
  • Cool-touch cover. Tempur-Pedic says its outer-layer fibers provide a cool-to-the-touch feel.
  • No flipping. Tempur-Pedic says rotation is optional and the mattress should not be flipped.
  • Certified foam. Tempur-Pedic says all its foams are CertiPUR-US certified.
Cons
  • Firmness mismatch. Sleep Foundation rates it 5.0/10 for stomach sleepers over 230 pounds; even lighter stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer mattress.
  • Movement effort. Sleep Foundation's team found it hard to move around on both TEMPUR-Adapt models.
  • Low bounce. GoodBed says the Adapt may not suit people who want some bounce.
  • Trial return fee. Tempur-Pedic's 90-night trial has a $175 (plus tax) return fee.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the TEMPUR-Adapt, and which firmness should you pick?

Pick Medium for a firmer feel or Medium Hybrid for a slightly softer feel, Tempur-Pedic says.

Mattress Clarity rated the mattress Medium-Firm 6.5/10 on September 17, 2026. Sleepopolis rated its medium memory foam model Medium-Firm 6.5/10 on October 8, 2026. GoodBed rated Adapt Medium Medium Firm (4) and Adapt Medium Hybrid Medium (5) on March 29, 2024. Sleep Foundation rated both TEMPUR-Adapt models Medium (5) on October 15, 2026. The outside readings place it around medium to medium-firm, so use the brand's feel distinction to choose the option that matches your preference.

Is the TEMPUR-Adapt right for your sleep position and body weight?

For sleepers over 230 pounds, the TEMPUR-Adapt looks more promising for side sleeping than for back or stomach sleeping. Sleep Foundation’s ratings here cover that weight group, so they do not settle fit for lighter people.

  • Sleep Foundation rates side fit 7.5/10 for sleepers over 230 pounds, but says they can sink too far into the foam, making a neutral spine harder to keep. A Sleep Foundation Product Testing Manager who weighs 160 lb said TEMPUR foam was a great fit for him on his side. That is one tester’s experience, not a score for all lighter sleepers.
  • For back sleepers over 230 pounds, the 5.5/10 rating gives less reassurance than the side score.
  • For stomach sleepers over 230 pounds, the rating is 5.0/10. Sleep Foundation says even lighter stomach sleepers said they would prefer a firmer mattress, so consider a firmer feel if you sleep on your stomach.

Tempur-Pedic says its mattresses have no weight limit, but the ratings show why sleep position still matters.

  2. Shoulders: ask if the shoulder under you settles in, or if you feel a pinch after a few minutes.

Is the TEMPUR-Adapt good for back pain?

The TEMPUR-Adapt may be worth considering for back pain, though reviewer findings are not a promise of pain relief. Tempur-Pedic says the Adapt collection offers pressure relief and motion cancellation for comfort and support; this is a general support claim, not one about back pain. Tom’s Guide considered this mattress good for back pain, and its lead tester did not wake with a sore lower back. Sleep Foundation lists people with chronic back pain among those it suits best. Sleepopolis reports stellar pain-test results for back sleepers with back pain. Mattress Nerd praises relief for back sleepers but notes too much pressure on hips. Weigh that hip-pressure concern against the favorable reviews when deciding whether it fits your needs.

How cool or hot does it sleep?

Outside testers give the TEMPUR-Adapt mixed temperature results. Tempur-Pedic lists a Cool-to-the-Touch Cover as a cooling feature. Tom’s Guide rated temperature regulation 2 out of 5, and Sleep Foundation gave temperature control 5.5/10. Sleepopolis said it sleeps cooler than other all-foam beds. If you run hot, weigh those individual results rather than treating the cover feature as a promise of cool sleep.

Will you feel your partner move?

A light sleeper with a restless partner should expect less motion, but not none. GoodBed calls motion isolation very good, though it says other movement can still disturb you. NapLab measured 7.61 m/s² total acceleration range, 13% below average, and 5.97 inches total bounce height.

Sleep Foundation scored motion isolation 8.5/10; it found foam models isolated best, while the hybrid let through some light movement. Sleepopolis also found very good motion transfer and says big movements are unlikely to reach you, but slow-moving foam has little bounce. If motion matters most, favor foam; GoodBed suggests the Adapt Hybrid if you want some bounce.

Build & Safety

How is it built?

The TEMPUR-Adapt has two TEMPUR-Material® layers above a foam base in Medium, or a coil base in Medium Hybrid. The base changes by version: Medium has no coils, while Medium Hybrid has 1,000+.

  • Top comfort layer: TEMPUR-Material®.
  • Support layer: TEMPUR-Material®.
  • Medium base: foam.
  • Medium Hybrid base: spring coils combined with TEMPUR-Material®.

Tempur-Pedic says its spring coils add edge support and make movement easier. Pick the Hybrid if those coil benefits matter; choose Medium if you want the foam-base version without coils.

Materials and certifications

The TEMPUR-Adapt cover has high-performance fibers in its outer layers, which Tempur-Pedic says feel cool to the touch. Tempur-Pedic says all of its foams are CertiPUR-US certified. This certification applies to foam, not the cover or the whole mattress. That means shoppers can assess the stated cover material separately from the foam certification.

Does the TEMPUR-Adapt have fiberglass?

Tempur-Pedic says its mattresses do not contain fiberglass, so its stated answer to the fiberglass question is no. To check the materials on your own TEMPUR-Adapt, read its law tag, which lists the materials. This gives you a product-specific check for the fire barrier, rather than relying on a broad brand statement alone.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

Sleep Foundation expects six to seven years; Tempur-Pedic says you need not rotate the TEMPUR-Adapt, though some owners rotate it periodically for more even wear, and you should not flip it. RTINGS calls it moderately durable. Sleep Doctor expects it to last longer than average for its type, and Mattress Nerd expects it to last longer than the average mattress lifespan of seven years. These readings do not establish one lifespan.

Tempur-Pedic says break-in takes about 30 days as the mattress softens to your ideal feel.

What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?

Tempur-Pedic says its warranty lasts 10 years and covers sag deeper than 0.75 in. Repairs and replacements cost nothing for beds bought on or after October 1, 2022.

To keep coverage, use slats at least 3 in wide and no more than 4 in apart; a box spring, plywood, a futon frame, or the floor can void it. Check sag depth before filing. You pay claim shipping, capped at the brand's standard freight rate.

What do owners like and complain about?

Owners praise pressure relief, but some complain about firmness and heat. Check these comfort trade-offs before choosing this bed.

Tempur-Pedic's model page shows 4.243639628853637 out of 5 stars from 3,341 reviews; its Adapt brand page shows 4.3 out of 5 from 11,765 reviews. Goodbed rates it 82/100 (Very Good), based on 89 owner experiences. The two Tempur-Pedic pages show different ratings, so read each with its own review count.

Mattress Clarity says positive reviews often praise pressure relief and easing back pain; one owner said painful pressure points stopped. The same site reports firmness complaints, including one Adapt Medium Hybrid owner who found it too firm. One Tempur-Pedic reviewer wished they had ordered Firm instead of Medium. Mattress Nerd says several customers found the mattress hot and uncomfortable all night. If you sleep hot or are unsure about Medium, weigh those complaints against the pressure-relief praise.
