The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary

Tulo is Mattress Firm's exclusive boxed-mattress value brand, also sold through an Amazon storefront. Its Bamboo Green Tea, Lavender, Hybrid and Green Tea Hybrid lines run roughly $220 to $690 at Mattress Firm. Early Amazon ratings are strong, but most Amazon listings showed Currently unavailable in September 2026. You get a real store to test it in, a 120-night trial and a 10-year warranty. It's a budget first bed, not an upgrade.

Chapter 01

Is Tulo (Mattress Firm) the best mattress for you?

Best if you want a cheap all-foam bed-in-a-box with a real store to test it in: back and stomach sleepers up to roughly 130-230 lbs who like firm contouring foam; couples on a budget (lab motion isolation 7.5/10); Mattress Firm shoppers who value the 120-night trial, Low Price Guarantee and deep sale prices.

Skip it if you sleep hot (foam tested 6/10 on temperature control and owners report night sweats), weigh over 230 lbs (support thins out), need plush cushioning as a side sleeper (6 in and 8 in models test too firm), want strong edge support, expect an 8-10 year lifespan (lab says 6-7 years), or need to buy on Amazon right now, since most Tulo listings showed Currently unavailable as of Sept 2026.

Lavender fans should note owners say the scent fades in about two weeks.

Chapter 02

Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you

Why this matters to you: Feel names are the brand's words, not measurements. Use them to shortlist two or three beds, then let your body decide.

Back sleepers: the Bamboo 8 in Medium was the lab favorite under 230 lbs; the 6 in Firm suits back and stomach sleepers who want a firm, thin bed. Stomach sleepers: the 6 in and 8 in have the right firmness but only support sleepers under about 130 lbs; heavier stomach sleepers sink and should look elsewhere.

Side sleepers: choose the 10 in or 12 in Bamboo (medium, medium soft) or the Lavender 10 in Medium Plush if you weigh under about 230 lbs, especially under 130 lbs; the 6 in and 8 in feel too firm on shoulders and hips. Couples: memory-foam models isolate motion best (laboratory 7.5/10) and the hybrid lines reduce partner disturbance with encased coils.

Hot sleepers: avoid the all-foam line (temperature control 6/10, owner heat complaints); nothing in the range is actively cooling. Heavy sleepers over 230 lbs: consider a Tulo hybrid or another brand, since lab testers found the foam models too soft.

Weight chart not yet researched

Weight and sleep position can change how a bed feels. We have not yet checked whether Tulo (Mattress Firm) publishes a fit chart by body weight, so use a trial, where one is offered, to test the bed the way you sleep at home.

Four alignment checkpoints against a neutral posture line Neck Shoulders Lower back Hips level with spine sink in, no pinch no gap below no sag Straight spine line
  1. Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
  2. Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
  3. Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
  4. Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.

Compare the mattresses

Prices checked Sept 2026 · recheck before buying

Mattress prices and value

Why this matters to you: A starting price can rise with size, base and delivery. Get the full price for your size in writing before you choose.

Amazon: every Tulo mattress listing checked (Bamboo 6 in Twin and Full, Lavender 6/8/10/12 in, Hybrid 10 in, Green Tea Hybrid 8 in, plus topper and bed frame) showed Currently unavailable with no buy-box price as of Sept 2026, so live Amazon pricing cannot be confirmed.

Mattress Firm, the brand's exclusive retailer: the Bamboo 6 in Firm was discounted to $219.99 from $629.99 (65 percent off) and the Bamboo 8 in Medium Queen listed at $689.99 in Sept 2026. Sleep Foundation recorded regular pricing of $350-$660 with Queen from $540 for the Bamboo line; shipping is free within the contiguous US at most retailers.

Value: genuinely budget-tier memory foam comparable to Zinus and Lucid, and the Mattress Firm 120-night trial plus Low Price Guarantee lowers risk, but the catch is a 6-7 year expected lifespan and thin edge support on taller models. A Walmart marketplace listing for the Bamboo 8 in showed $249.99 Queen, out of stock.

Chapter 05

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. Lean on the written warranty and real owner reports to judge how it will last.

Expect roughly six to seven years from the all-foam models: Sleep Foundation rates Tulo durability 6/10 (5.5/10 for the 12 in) and states the all-foam Bamboo is not expected to last beyond six or seven years.

Owner feedback is mixed: several buyers say their Tulo still holds its shape and does not sink after months of use, and one Amazon reviewer noted a relative's 2019 Tulo still keeps its shape; others report body impressions and sagging, including a Mattress Firm customer whose bed sagged in the middle after about three years and an owner whose 10 in model measured under 9 in.

The 10-year warranty only covers sagging deeper than 1.5 in (3/4 in on smooth-top models) and excludes comfort preference, so it will not rescue a merely softened bed. Rotating head-to-foot every six months and using a solid foundation help; the 6 in model's thinner layers are the most wear-prone.

Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees

Why this matters to you: Feel is hard to judge in a store or in a week. Know your exit plan and its cost before you pay.

Where you buy decides your trial. Mattress Firm: the 120 Night Sleep Trial lets you sleep on it for 120 nights and, if you do not love it, the store helps you find a new one or your money back, with a 30-night minimum before a return or exchange (Sleep Foundation notes the 30-night requirement), plus a Low Price Guarantee matched up to 120 nights.

Amazon: purchases fall under Amazon's standard large-item return policy (typically a 30-day window with scheduled pickup) rather than a Tulo-brand trial; Amazon listing pages show no Tulo sleep-trial terms. Fees: no return-fee schedule is published on Amazon or in the brand's Amazon listings; older customer posts describe in-store exchange-only handling, so confirm current terms with the seller before buying.

Specific fee amounts: Not published as of Sept 2026.

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal

Why this matters to you: Delivery terms decide your first week with the bed. Confirm the date, setup and old-bed removal before you pay.

Amazon: ships as a compressed bed-in-a-box to your doorstep with Amazon's large-item customer support; no white-glove setup or old-mattress removal is offered by the Tulo brand itself (Sleep Foundation notes Tulo does not currently offer White Glove delivery or mattress removal, though third-party retailers may).

Setup is DIY unbox-and-unroll; owners report the foam expands within about 8 hours and any off-gassing odor fades over roughly one to two days, with most Amazon buyers reporting no strong smell. Mattress Firm: scheduled delivery to a US ZIP (the Bamboo 8 in page quoted a 2-3 day window in Sept 2026) plus in-store pickup when stock allows; mattress removal is not published as a Tulo-brand service, so ask the store.

No installation or haul-away fee schedule is published on the Amazon listings.

Typical wait: 2-3 day window at Mattress Firm

What do the warranties cover?

Why this matters to you: A warranty is only as good as its terms. Read the written terms and use a supported base, because the wrong frame can end coverage.

Tulo mattresses carry a 10-year limited warranty: the Amazon Bamboo 6 in listing states 10 year/10 year, and Sleep Foundation confirms a 10-year limited warranty covering defects in workmanship or materials, with defective mattresses repaired or replaced.

Mattress Firm's warranty text adds the rules: coverage runs to the original purchaser within the United States only; some 10-year products are fully non-prorated while others prorate from years 2, 4 or 6; excluded are sagging or body impressions under 1.5 in (3/4 in on smooth-top, non-quilted models), comfort or firmness preference, mattress fabric, stains or unsanitary condition, structural damage from improper frames or slat spacing over 2 in, floor models and as-is bedding, and transportation costs.

Normal softening and a 1 in dip are therefore not defects.

Measuring a mattress dip with a straight edge and a ruler Straight edge across the bed Dip depth Mattress, nobody lying on it

Covered when the dip is deeper than 1.5 inches (3/4 in on smooth-top models), measured with nobody on the bed.

  1. Strip the bed down to the mattress and wait a few hours so the top layers can recover.
  2. Lay a straight edge (a broom handle or long level) across the dip, resting on the flat parts.
  3. Measure from the edge down to the deepest point, then photograph the ruler for your claim.

Review counts checked on each site · they change daily

Customer reviews and complaints

Why this matters to you: Star ratings depend on who posts and where. Read the low-star reviews for patterns, not just the average.

Amazon ratings are positive but based on small samples: Bamboo 6 in 5.0 stars from 4 ratings (Twin and Full), Lavender 6 in 4.5 from 14, Lavender 8 in 4.3 from 21, Lavender 10 in 4.4 from 59, Lavender 12 in 4.3 from 74, Hybrid 10 in 5.0 from 1, Green Tea Hybrid 8 in 5.0 from 1; the topper sits at 4.0 from 3 and the bed frame 5.0 from 2. Praise centers on value, comfort, motion isolation and no off-gas smell.

Recurring complaints: mattresses arrive firmer than expected, even hard; the plush-listed Lavender 10 in drew a 1-star Falsely advertised review citing heat and soreness; the lavender scent fades within about two weeks; some report sleeping hot; one long-term owner called the hybrid a trampoline; sagging complaints appear after about three years.

GoodBed aggregates 247 Tulo customer ratings, and a 2018 Reddit thread accused Tulo of selectively publishing reviews; SlumberSearch's aggregate shows classic budget-foam trade-offs, good for the price but mixed on longevity.

What are the mattresses made of?

Why this matters to you: Layer names say little without numbers. Ask what is inside your exact model, layer by layer.

All Tulo mattresses are foam or foam-and-coil beds built to a value spec. Bamboo Green Tea line: stretch-knit rayon-from-bamboo cover, green-tea-infused memory foam comfort layer (1.5 in to 4 in; the 10 in adds a 2 in gel memory foam layer) over a 4.5 in to 8 in high-density polyfoam support core, two foam layers in total; the Amazon 6 in lists 1.5 in green tea infused memory foam plus 4.5 in base foam and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified textiles.

Firmness by height: 6 in firm (7), 8 in medium firm (6), 10 in medium (5), 12 in medium soft (4). Lavender line: lavender-infused memory foam layers plus Tulo base foam under a soft-knit cover, spec sheets show three layers on the 6 in and two on the 8 in. Hybrid line: memory foam over fabric-encased coils with CertiPUR-US certified foam.

Green Tea Hybrid line: antioxidant-rich green tea memory foam plus individually wrapped coils, manufactured by Corsicana per Amazon specs. Amazon listings cover Twin through King; Mattress Firm's 8 in FAQ also lists a California King while Sleep Foundation says the Bamboo line stops short of Cal King, so confirm size availability before ordering.

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?

Why this matters to you: Where you buy sets the price, the trial and who handles problems. Check the seller's terms, not just the brand's.

Sold on Amazon through the Tulo brand store (collections for Bamboo, Lavender, Hybrid, Green Tea Hybrid, toppers and bed frames; most listings showed Currently unavailable as of Sept 2026) and at Mattress Firm stores and mattressfirm.com/tulo, the brand's exclusive retail home (tulo.com leads there).

Trying in person means visiting a Mattress Firm showroom, though the Bamboo 8 in page showed no same-day take-home and some ZIPs showed no area availability, so selection varies by store. Walmart marketplace also carried a Tulo by Mattress Firm Bamboo 8 in listing, out of stock at last check.

Chapter 12

Tulo (Mattress Firm) vs. other mattress brands

Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for both beds. Line up price, trial and warranty for each one.

Tulo is Mattress Firm's exclusive boxed mattress brand, and that is its main edge: a showroom network, a 120-night trial and frequent deep discounts that pure Amazon brands like Zinus, Lucid or Amazon Basics cannot match, though Zinus and Lucid beat it on Amazon availability and review volume (a Zinus 12 in Queen held 91.4K ratings at $299.99 on Amazon while most Tulo listings were out of stock).

Against premium bed-in-a-box brands such as Nectar and DreamCloud, Tulo is far cheaper but gives up trial length and warranty generosity, since those brands advertise 365-night trials and a Forever Warranty in their Amazon listings and the DreamCloud Classic 12 in Queen listed at $699. Against hybrids and specialty brands, Tulo's all-foam beds trail on cooling and edge support, and even its own hybrid line drew a harsh long-term owner review.

Verdict: a budget first bed, guest room or starter pick, not an upgrade mattress.

How we research and report

This page is an early draft built from our research sheet for Tulo (Mattress Firm). We read the brand's own pages and public listings, and we do not test mattresses ourselves. Fields marked "Not yet researched" are still being checked.

This Tulo entry for Nappedia was built Amazon-first in Sept 2026: we pulled the Tulo Amazon storefront and its collection pages (Bamboo, Lavender, Green Tea Hybrid, Hybrid, Toppers, Bed Frames), and individual Amazon listings for the 6 in Bamboo, Lavender 6/8/10/12 in, Hybrid 10 in, Green Tea Hybrid 8 in, topper and bed frame, recording spec tables, star ratings, review counts, review text, availability and warranty fields.

We then verified brand, trial, delivery and warranty terms on Mattress Firm's live Tulo product pages (tulo.com leads there) and older versions of the site, and added independent lab testing (Sleep Foundation) plus aggregated owner reviews (SlumberSearch, GoodBed) and comparison pricing from Amazon. Unavailable facts are labeled Not published as of Sept 2026; we accept no payment for placement.

Who makes Tulo?

It is Mattress Firm's exclusive boxed mattress brand; Amazon spec sheets list manufacturing partners Mlily for the 6 in Bamboo and Corsicana for the Green Tea Hybrid.

Bamboo versus Lavender, what is the difference?

Bamboo pairs a rayon-from-bamboo cover with green-tea-infused memory foam (6 in Firm on Amazon; 8/10/12 in Medium to Medium Plush via Mattress Firm), while Lavender uses lavender-infused memory foam and a soft-knit cover in 6/8/10/12 in firm to medium feels.

How firm is a Tulo?

Roughly 7/10 firm on the 6 in down to 4/10 medium soft on the 12 in, so most sleepers land on the 8 in medium firm or 10 in medium.

How much does a Tulo cost?

Budget money - Sleep Foundation recorded $350-$660 regular with Queen from $540, and Mattress Firm showed the 6 in Bamboo at $219.99 (from $629.99) in Sept 2026, while Amazon listings had no live price.

Is there a sleep trial and warranty?

Yes - 120 nights at Mattress Firm with a 30-night minimum, and a 10-year limited warranty; Amazon orders follow Amazon's return policy.

Can you buy Tulo on Amazon today?

The storefront exists, but most listings read Currently unavailable as of Sept 2026.

Prices and promos checked Sept 2026. Recheck before buying.
