The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary
Ultrabed is the house brand of a family-run showroom and factory in Agoura Hills, California. It was formerly Selectabed and is a division of Relief-Mart. It sells its own foam and pillow-top beds next to dozens of other brands. The Original Series runs about $497 to $997 on sale, with a 120-night trial and an 18-year warranty. You'll do best if you can visit the showroom. The web store isn't open yet, and the independent scores you'd want are member-only.

Key Strengths
Southern California shoppers who want to test many brands
Good fit: Southern California shoppers who want to test dozens of brands in one two-floor showroom; buyers who want factory-direct pricing on US-made foam beds; back-pain and fibromyalgia shoppers who value chiropractor-designed zoning and free firmness customization; sleepers who want a 120-night in-store trial with no restocking fee; custom and oversized bed buyers (RV, boat, antique, 7x7 ft up to 10x12 ft and larger); couples wanting split-firmness or split-top builds.
Poor fit: online-only shoppers, because the web store is not launched; buyers who want every size price published, since the Flex-Tech Adjust series says call for special pricing; shoppers outside the 2-hour local delivery radius who would pay return freight; anyone who needs public independent lab scores, since the Consumer Reports ratings are member-only; and shoppers who want a nationally advertised brand.

Chapter 02
Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you
Why this matters to you: Feel names are the brand's words, not measurements. Use them to shortlist two or three beds, then let your body decide.
Back sleepers: Ultrabed Original in extra-firm, Flex-Tech Adjust Series 1 or 2, or Tri-Pedic Gold for contouring firm memory foam. Side sleepers: Ultrabed Extreme or Elite, Flex-Tech Adjust Series 4 or 5, Tri-Pedic Diamond as the plushest, or Memory Zone Deluxe. Stomach sleepers: Ultrabed Original or Deluxe, or Tri-Pedic Gold, which hold firmness without hammocking.
Combination sleepers: Ultrabed Deluxe or Flex-Tech Adjust Series 3 for a medium-firm middle ground. Couples: foam-only construction removes coil motion transfer, and split king or split-top builds allow independent firmness and adjustable-base movement. Heavier sleepers: the high-density HR polyurethane and Resili-Flex bases plus 5 lb memory foam on Elite and Tri-Pedic are the sturdiest builds, but no weight limits are published.
Back pain and fibromyalgia: Tri-Pedic, the zoned Fibro-Pedic, and the sister brand Back Science. Hot sleepers: every factory-direct model can carry the patented Airflow Transfer System. Adjustable-base owners: Flex-Tech Adjust Gel Series and Tri-Pedic.
Custom or oversized needs: the custom division builds to any shape or size.

Which Ultrabed feel fits you?
Weight chart not yet researched
Weight and sleep position can change how a bed feels. We have not yet checked whether Ultrabed publishes a fit chart by body weight, so use a trial, where one is offered, to test the bed the way you sleep at home.
Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.
Figure 2.1: Four checks to run in a store, lying still in the position you sleep in most. The store test in chapter 11 says how long to lie on each bed.

Chapter 05
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. Lean on the written warranty and real owner reports to judge how it will last.
Durability evidence is mostly warranty-based rather than independently tested. The brand offers 18-year limited coverage on the Original and Deluxe, 20-year on Memory Zone and PolyFlex, and 30-year on the Extreme, Elite, Tri-Pedic, Fibro-Pedic, Soft-Pedic, Back Science Hybrid and Gel-Flex lines, with full parts, labor and materials coverage for the first 10 years and pro-ration after that.
It defines a defect as sag greater than 3/4 in, requires the mattress to be rotated head-to-toe every other month for the first four months and every six months thereafter, and forbids flipping.
The brand argues its no-flip foam construction avoids the fiber matting and spring fatigue of innerspring hybrids, and it cites a brand-published Sleep Disorders Center of Alabama questionnaire from October 2007 in which 149 sleep-disorder patients tried Tri-Pedic, Fibro-Pedic and Tempur-Flow mattresses: 70 percent reported less tossing and turning, 91 percent would recommend them, and 94 percent felt well supported.
That study is not peer-reviewed and is not an independent lab test. Consumer Reports tested the Ultrabed Original for durability and firmness, but the scores are member-only. No independent long-term sag, foam-fatigue or edge-support testing was found as of Sept 2026, and no owner-reported lifespan data set exists beyond curated testimonials.

Chapter 06
Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees
Why this matters to you: Feel is hard to judge in a store or in a week. Know your exit plan and its cost before you pay.
A 120-day sleep trial that begins the first day the mattress or bed set is received, offering either an exchange or a refund of the mattress purchase price less shipping and handling. The brand strongly recommends a 21-day break-in period before deciding. It advertises free exchanges or returns with no restocking fee.
Return shipping is the customer responsibility except for manufacturing or shipping errors, and customers inside the 2-hour local delivery radius are exempt from return shipping costs; for other returns the brand may extend its discounted carrier rates. If a shipping special or free item was given, a return without exchange requires the customer to pay shipping both ways and to return promotional items except pillows.
Pillows and bedding can be exchanged within 30 days, and promotional items become non-returnable after 30 days with their value deducted from any mattress refund. Returns must reach the plant before the end of the 120th day; an RMA number is required, and a 14-day inspection period typically applies before credit. Excluded: custom mattresses and toppers, adjustable bed bases, and opened sheets, comforters or pillows.
Custom orders canceled after 3 days carry a 20 percent surcharge. Products damaged after delivery are not returnable, and defective products are exchanged promptly. No exchanges or returns after day 120.

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal
Why this matters to you: Delivery terms decide your first week with the bed. Confirm the date, setup and old-bed removal before you pay.
Shipping is worldwide direct from the manufacturing plant in the Thousand Oaks area of Ventura County, California. Mattresses are not rolled or compressed; they ship by special carrier, wrapped in protective plastic and packed in sturdy boxes, and actual transit time is 3 to 5 days to most US customers, with specific costs quoted by phone. Mattress pads are rolled, double wrapped and sent by FedEx or UPS Ground.
Local delivery within roughly a 2-hour radius is free and includes setup and haul-away of the old mattress, per the brand about page. Refused deliveries where nothing is wrong with the package are subject to round-trip shipping charges before a refund plus restocking fees if applicable. Return shipments are the customer responsibility except for manufacturing or shipping errors.
Not published as of Sept 2026: a written national shipping rate table, specific white-glove service tiers outside the local radius, and any stated lead time for custom or oversized builds.
Typical wait: 3 to 5 days

What do the warranties cover?
Why this matters to you: A warranty is only as good as its terms. Read the written terms and use a supported base, because the wrong frame can end coverage.
Tiered limited warranties on factory-direct brands: 18 years on Flex-Tech Original and Deluxe; 30 years on Flex-Tech Extreme and Elite, Tri-Pedic, Soft-Pedic, Fibro-Pedic, Back Science Hybrid and the Gel-Flex series; 20 years on Memory Zone and PolyFlex; and 20 years on all other Ultrabed-manufactured brands.
Structure: for the first 10 years the manufacturer covers defective parts, labor and materials and performs needed repairs at no cost, while the customer pays shipping and handling; from year 11 the customer pays a pro-rated share calculated as years owned divided by the total term, multiplied by the mattress cost, with partial years rounded up.
Examples the brand gives: 61.1 percent of the original cost in year 11 of an 18-year term, 36.6 percent in year 11 of a 30-year term, and 55 percent in year 11 of a 20-year term. A defect is defined as sag greater than 3/4 in, measured by pulling a string tight over both sides of the mattress on a hard floor; an RMA number is required before return.
Excluded: damage after receipt such as food, drink, urine, punctures, pet damage and cigarette burns; normal cosmetic foam change; damage from an improper foundation; and liquid seepage into the mattress, which voids coverage. Requires rotating the mattress head-to-toe every other month for the first four months and every six months thereafter, and never flipping it. The flame-resistant netting must not be removed.
Adjustable bases carry a separate Flex-U.S.A. Elite 20-year warranty: year 1 parts and labor, years 2 to 5 parts only, years 6 to 20 mechanical parts only with electronics, electrical components, drive motors and massage motors excluded.
Covered when the dip is deeper than 3/4 inch sag, measured with nobody on the bed.
Strip the bed down to the mattress and wait a few hours so the top layers can recover.
Lay a straight edge (a broom handle or long level) across the dip, resting on the flat parts.
Measure from the edge down to the deepest point, then photograph the ruler for your claim.

Review counts checked on each site · they change daily
Customer reviews and complaints
Why this matters to you: Star ratings depend on who posts and where. Read the low-star reviews for patterns, not just the average.
The brand displays Google Local Reviews at 4.8 out of 5 from 62 reviews and Yelp at 5 out of 5 on its own reviews page in Sept 2026.
Named reviews, all positive, praise service and expertise (Renee Palkovsky, Zon Harper, Jon Levon, Maksym Serdiukov, Lisa T, Twoangels2314, Marty Goodman on Google; Ian F., Amy T., Emily B., Lori W. on Yelp), free firmness customization, price matching to online competitors, and next-day delivery with setup and haul-away.
Testimonials also come from NOAA ship crews and individual owners (Brenton Massie, jbo, Tonya, Roger Stone, Charlie, Ben LaCour, Joe DeLisio Sr., James Carlock). Ultrabed states it is a Better Business Bureau accredited business and a 2012 BBB Hall of Fame member,, so the current letter grade, accreditation status and complaint count could not be verified as of Sept 2026.
No complaints were found in any accessible third-party source, and Yelp likewise returned HTTP 403 to direct checks. Caveats: the review sample is small and self-selected, the reviews page shows curated quotes, and Consumer Reports rating detail is member-only.

Chapter 10
What are the mattresses made of?
Why this matters to you: Layer names say little without numbers. Ask what is inside your exact model, layer by layer.
Covers: bamboo stretch knit on the Original and Deluxe, Kool-Flow micro-vented stretch knit on the Extreme, Elite and Tri-Pedic, all zipper-removable for washing; hand-stitched hypoallergenic terry on the Fibro-Pedic.
Foams: the brand states all foam is CertiPUR-US certified, made without ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead and other heavy metals, formaldehyde, or phthalates regulated by the CPSC, with low VOC emissions under 0.5 parts per million.
It uses 4 lb and 5 lb density memory foams, 10 ILD conforming soft and 20 ILD firm memory foam in Tri-Pedic, Hypergel buoyant gel foam in the Flex-Tech Adjust series, Resili-Flex and UltraFlex support layers, Polyflex hybrid foam in Memory Zone, and high-resiliency polyurethane bases. Bonding uses a GREENGUARD certified water-borne adhesive with no ammonia, formaldehyde or solvents.
Flame resistance comes from inherently flame-resistant netting over the foam, which must not be removed. The patented Airflow Transfer System, US Patent No. 7,334,280, drills micro holes through the top layer that communicate with convoluted channels exiting the sides so air circulates in both directions.
Origin: made in the company Southern California factory in the Agoura Hills (factory is stated elsewhere as adjacent to the Agoura Hills showroom), with USA-sourced materials, and Made in USA Certified in 2012. Not published as of Sept 2026: exact foam densities and ILDs for the Ultrabed Original, Deluxe, Extreme and Elite layers, layer weights, and any coil count, since none of these beds use springs.

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?
Why this matters to you: Where you buy sets the price, the trial and who handles problems. Check the seller's terms, not just the brand's.
Try in person at the Agoura Hills showroom and factory, 28505 Canwood St, Ste C, Agoura Hills, CA 91301, open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm, phone (805) 379-4300 or (800) 667-1969, email information@ultrabed.com. A second location in Malibu at 228955 Pacific Coast Highway, Suite 100, Malibu, CA 90265, (424) 644-0341, is available by appointment only.
Buy online is not yet possible: the ultrabed.com shop page says the store is in the works and will be launching soon, so orders run through the showroom, phone, email, or the Get a Quote and Price Request forms.
The same showroom also carries third-party brands including Aireloom, Beautyrest, Bear, Birch, Brooklyn Bedding, Casper, Chattam and Wells, DreamCloud, Helix, King Koil, Leesa, Nectar, Nolah, PalmPring, Plank, Puffy, Purple, Scott Living, Sealy, Serta, Stearns and Foster, Tempur-Pedic, Tuft and Needle and WinkBeds, so Ultrabed beds can be compared side by side in one visit.

Chapter 12
Ultrabed vs. other mattress brands
Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for both beds. Line up price, trial and warranty for each one.
Versus Tempur-Pedic: the brand explicitly benchmarks Tri-Pedic Gold, Platinum and Diamond against Tempur-Cloud, Tempur-Cloud Supreme and Tempur-Cloud Luxe and argues its US-made 5 lb memory foam matches Tempur density without the import cost, at factory-direct prices.
Versus the direct-to-consumer brands it also sells (Nectar, Helix, DreamCloud, Puffy, Tuft and Needle, Leesa, Casper, Brooklyn Bedding, Bear, Birch, WinkBeds, Nolah, Plank, Purple): those arrive compressed in a box with roughly 10-year warranties and mail-back returns, while Ultrabed is a made-to-order US-built foam bed with free firmness customization, a 120-night in-store trial and 18 to 30 year warranties.
Versus sister factory-direct brands under Relief-Mart, Back Science is the patented zoned hybrid and Tempflow the airflow memory foam line, leaving Ultrabed as the traditional pillow-top foam line. Versus innerspring and hybrid makers such as Beautyrest, Sealy, Serta, Stearns and Foster, King Koil, Aireloom and Chattam and Wells, the brand argues foam-only construction eliminates spring motion transfer, edge-support imbalance and fiber matting.
Trade-offs: no public independent lab score since the Consumer Reports ratings are member-only, no online checkout, phone-only sale pricing on the Adjust series, and performance claims that rest heavily on the company's own doctor-authored marketing plus a 2007 in-house sleep-center questionnaire.
Competitor details reflect published prices and specs on the date shown. Mattress brands may update prices and trial terms over time.

How we research and report
This page is an early draft built from our research sheet for Ultrabed. We read the brand's own pages and public listings, and we do not test mattresses ourselves. Fields marked "Not yet researched" are still being checked.
Researched Sept 19, 2026.
Official sources first: we read the live ultrabed.com site, including the Ultrabed Original Series page, the Flex-Tech Original, Deluxe, Extreme and Elite product pages with their full per-size price tables, the Flex-Tech Adjust Gel Series 1 to 5 pages, Tri-Pedic and Tri-Pedic Gold, Platinum and Diamond, Memory Zone, Fibro-Pedic, custom mattress, oversized king, about-us, warranty, 120-day satisfaction guarantee, shipping info, financing, terms and conditions, CertiPUR-US, GREENGUARD, Made in USA Certified, mattress sleep study, mattress reviews and testimonials, dealer locations and BBB Hall of Fame pages.
Pulled the page and post sitemaps to enumerate every Ultrabed URL and to identify which model pages exist and which are broken. Domain status: ultrabed.com is live, and selectabed.com now goes to airpedic.com. Attempted third-party verification of BBB (HTTP 403), Yelp (HTTP 403) and search engines for outside coverage.
Missing data is marked Not published as of Sept 2026.
