Key Strengths
Couples with sharply different firmness needs
Sleepers who want zoned shoulder, back and hip support
Buyers who need Alaskan King, Wyoming King or custom sizes
Anyone who'd rather replace one component than a whole bed

Good to Know
Shoppers who want published prices
Anyone who wants a standard 100-night money-back trial
Possibly, if you are a couple with sharply different firmness needs, want zoned shoulder, back and hip support, need an oversized or irregular size such as Alaskan King, Wyoming King, a family bed or fully custom dimensions, or prefer replacing one component over replacing a whole mattress.
Poor fit if you want published prices, a standard 100-night money-back trial, free old-mattress removal, same-week delivery or in-store comparison shopping, since builds take 2-4 weeks plus 6-12 days shipping, returns refund 75% minus shipping, and US buyers currently cannot order finished mattresses while fire-rating certification is completed, components only.

Chapter 02
Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you
Why this matters to you: Feel names are the brand's words, not measurements. Use them to shortlist two or three beds, then let your body decide.
Couples with different firmness preferences: Von Moda, Von Jasmine or Von Orchid, in the brand's stated order of price and flexibility, with 8 or more firmness levels, or 16 counting per-side tailoring. Pain issues or a need for zoned support: Von Orchid. A partner's movement disturbing sleep: any spring-free hybrid, meaning Moda, Jasmine or Orchid, or the Von Empress for a coil feel with less motion transfer.
Allergies or sensitivity to typical mattress materials: Von Organa, or Von Empress built with organic cotton, wool and latex. Heat affecting sleep: choose natural or organic materials and avoid memory foam, which the brand says has little breathability; all models can be built with or without memory foam. Wanting bounce or a coil feel: Von Duchess for a high, lively, more compressible feel and curvier bodies, Von Empress for lower, stabler coils.
Oversized or irregular sizes: the Von Epica collection or a custom quote. Firmness is set through a phone, web or in-person consultation covering sleep position, height, weight and preference, and the brand ships new components at cost if the first build misses.

Which Von Viva feel fits you?
Weight chart not yet researched
Weight and sleep position can change how a bed feels. We have not yet checked whether Von Viva publishes a fit chart by body weight, so use a trial, where one is offered, to test the bed the way you sleep at home.
Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.
Figure 2.1: Four checks to run in a store, lying still in the position you sleep in most. The store test in chapter 11 says how long to lie on each bed.
Chapter 03
Compare the mattresses
Why this matters to you: Models from one brand can differ in feel, height and layers. Match the feel label and height to how you sleep before you compare prices.
Von Viva lists 6 models. Feel names are the brand's labels.
Von Moda: simplest hybrid, no springs, layers of high-resiliency foam and/or latex, left-versus-right firmness for two sleepers; oversized equivalent listed as Von Epica Rundle. Von Jasmine: hybrid with a double top layer for finer per-side firmness choices; oversized version Von Epica Kona.
Von Orchid: the most customizable model, with firmness differing left and right plus separate neck, back and hip zones; the brand recommends it for pain issues and the most divergent couples; oversized version Von Epica Denali. Von Duchess: pocket-coil model with extra-long 9-inch pocket coils plus micro-coils and a plush quilted cover; livelier, higher and more compressible, positioned for curvier bodies and bounce lovers.
Von Empress: pocket-coil model with 7-inch, more stable coils engineered for lower motion transfer; zonable side to side and along the body; can be built with all-organic GOTS cotton, wool and latex. Von Organa: spring-free all-organic model using organic Talalay or Dunlop latex, Joma wool and GOTS cotton; the brand's allergy-sensitive pick.
Oversized Von Epica line: Kona premium modular from CAD $4,188; Denali highly customizable from CAD $4,934; Empress pocket coil from CAD $5,197; Everest organic from CAD $7,349. The brand's own product-line graph orders hybrid customization as Moda, then Jasmine, then Orchid. No independent model-level test data published as of Sept 2026.

Prices for the six standard models are not published; they are quoted after consultation. Published as of Sept 2026: oversized Von Epica starting prices in CAD, Kona $4,188, Denali $4,934, Empress $5,197, Everest $7,349.
Component prices in USD reveal build cost: Duchess pocket-coil core assembly with micro-coils and plush quilted cover from $809; Empress core assemblies from $1,048 with plush quilted cover, $1,112 quilted to wool, and $1,196 with organic GOTS cotton quilted to wool; 2-inch blended Talalay latex $239 and 3-inch $302; 2-inch natural Talalay $267 and 3-inch $344; 2-inch organic Dunlop latex $239; 2-inch high-density foam $140, 4-inch high-density foam $182, 7-inch Dura foam $330, 4-inch high-resiliency UltraCell foam $81; 2-inch 5 lb memory foam $210 and 3-inch $281; covers from $175 plush quilted, $210 stretch knit quilted to wool, and $246 organic cotton GOTS quilted to wool.
Shipping is included in mattress prices for most North American destinations. The value case is modularity: components are replaceable at material cost plus shipping with no mark-ups, so a worn comfort layer does not mean a new mattress, and the brand states mattresses last 8-15 years without refurbishment.
The trade-off is that returns refund only 75% of price minus shipping with return freight on the buyer, and there is no published price list to comparison shop against.

Chapter 05
How well do the mattresses hold up?
Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. Lean on the written warranty and real owner reports to judge how it will last.
The brand states the majority of its mattresses last longer than 15 years and that they typically last 8-15 years without refurbishment. Wear parts are rated separately: latex toppers 8-12 years and 5 lb memory foam 7-10 years, with softer materials losing resiliency faster and larger sleepers accelerating wear.
Suggested care is flipping and rotating components four times per year, more often being better, and spot cleaning only, never washing the quilted zip cover.
Frame and foundation requirements are specified: metal frames need at least three support bars with one in the middle, plus 6-7 legs for queen, double and single and 8 legs for king; wood slat foundations need at least five slats with centre support at minimum on the middle slat; platform designs are called the strongest and most supportive.
Because the mattress is modular, a worn or softened section is replaced as a component rather than requiring a new mattress, which is the brand's core durability argument and is backed by the component store. Independent long-term durability testing or third-party sag and foam-degradation data was not published as of Sept 2026.

Chapter 06
Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees
Why this matters to you: Feel is hard to judge in a store or in a week. Know your exit plan and its cost before you pay.
No classic sleep trial and no money-back window. Instead the brand promises sleeping better in the first 120 days: if the buyer is not sleeping better it fixes the problem by making adjustments or exchanging components, with new components normally shipped at cost of material and delivery, and if concerns persist the buyer can keep buying replacement components.
Because the mattress is modular, most fixes replace one component or section rather than the whole mattress. A full return is accepted for any reason for a 75% refund minus shipping costs; shipping is included in the purchase price, but on a return the outbound and return freight is the customer's responsibility and the mattress must be repackaged appropriately, with the brand assisting on shipping arrangements.
No restocking fee is published beyond the 25% retained and the shipping cost. Damage in transit is resolved with a replacement component or a refund provided the damage was documented with the delivery company before it left. Component exchanges are the standard remedy, and buyers are advised to discuss shipping costs before ordering if returns are a concern.

Chapter 07
Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal
Why this matters to you: Delivery terms decide your first week with the bed. Confirm the date, setup and old-bed removal before you pay.
Free shipping across North America based on typical shipping allowances, with shipping included in mattress prices; remote areas, ferry-served locations, Hawaii and Alaska often cost more, and the brand contacts buyers to approve surcharges or allow cancellation, with North America in this policy excluding Hawaii.
Build time is 2-4 weeks, the FAQ says regular sizes are normally 2-3 weeks and an oversized mattress takes about 5 weeks end to end, then 6-12 days shipping and up to 10-14 days at times. Mattresses ship by truck as bagged, cubed components on a pallet, wrapped in cardboard and strapped, normally with curbside drop-off, and it can be unpackaged and moved by one person.
Setup needs no tools: components are labeled and instructions included, the cover is laid down and zipped open, components fit firmly bottom to top and the quilted cover zips everything tight, taking about 10-15 minutes for the mattress and under 45 minutes including a foundation. Deliveries should be inspected before the carrier leaves and any outside damage documented and reported to the delivery company on the spot.
For US deliveries a partnered customs broker contacts the buyer to be importer of record, and the brand states there are no hidden broker fees. Old-mattress removal: Not published as of Sept 2026.
Typical wait: 2 to 3 weeks

What do the warranties cover?
Why this matters to you: A warranty is only as good as its terms. Read the written terms and use a supported base, because the wrong frame can end coverage.
Coverage runs from the date the product is received. All mattresses carry a 15-year pro-rated warranty, though the FAQ text also says 10 years pro-rated minus the comfort layers, the brand has published both terms; ask which applies before buying.
Pocket-coil mattresses, meaning Von Duchess and Von Empress, are covered or repaired for the full 15 years specifically for broken, loose or depressed coils, coils or wires projecting through the fabric, and loose tape-edge stitching; the brand may repair locally or at the factory, and shipping is on the customer.
Hybrid foam and latex mattresses are 15-year pro-rated, illustrated as a $2,000 mattress used 8 years receiving about $1,066 toward a replacement mattress or new component. Zip covers are warrantied 5 years, excluding shrinkage from washing, and must be spot cleaned. Mattress fabrics are covered against normal wear defects for 5 years.
Foams are covered for indentations or sagging greater than 1 inch, with the brand deciding whether softening is a defect or normal wear. Exclusions: changing comfort preferences, structural damage from bending or moving a mattress improperly, abuse, soiled or stained mattresses, indentations under 1 inch, normal foam breakdown, and transportation costs, and dirty, stained, smelly, smoky or damaged mattresses are not accepted for health reasons.
Buyers must use a suitable foundation and frame and flip and rotate the mattress four times a year.
Covered when the dip is deeper than Over 1 inch, measured with nobody on the bed.
Strip the bed down to the mattress and wait a few hours so the top layers can recover.
Lay a straight edge (a broom handle or long level) across the dip, resting on the flat parts.

Customer reviews and complaints
Why this matters to you: Star ratings depend on who posts and where. Read the low-star reviews for patterns, not just the average.
Not published as of Sept 2026. No aggregated third-party review profile was located for Von Viva or its operating company Sleep Boutique on Trustpilot, Google reviews, Yelp, Reddit or the Better Business Bureau, and no review content could be retrieved from any independent source. The vonviva.com site has no customer review section, no star rating and no published testimonials.
The only rating-style claim is the brand's own marketing line stating it is highly rated with over 40 years experience. No verified complaint pattern, return-rate data or independent satisfaction score is available. The absence of reviews appears to reflect a small build-to-order Canadian factory selling direct rather than a documented service failure.

Chapter 10
What are the mattresses made of?
Why this matters to you: Layer names say little without numbers. Ask what is inside your exact model, layer by layer.
Three constructions. Hybrids, meaning Von Moda, Von Jasmine and Von Orchid, contain no springs and use layers of high-resiliency foam and/or latex that the brand says minimizes motion transfer. Pocket coil covers Von Duchess with extra-long 9-inch pocket coils plus micro-coils, and Von Empress with 7-inch variable-tension pocket coils.
Organic covers Von Organa, which is spring-free, and Von Empress when built with organic materials around the coils. Named materials: rich natural Talalay latex, organic Dunlop latex, blended Talalay, Joma wool, organic GOTS cotton, high-density and high-resiliency foams, 4 lb to 5 lb memory foam, and plush synthetic foams. Memory foam is optional on every model and the brand recommends against it when heat is an issue.
Every mattress is modular: removable, flippable sections sit inside a zip cover that opens and closes, components are labeled and can be swapped, rotated or replaced individually. Cover options are plush quilted zip and tape edged, stretch knit quilted to wool, and organic cotton GOTS quilted to wool. The latex is washed to remove the proteins linked to latex allergy, and sample pieces can be sent so buyers can touch the material first.
No foam density specification beyond the memory foam weight and no coil count is published.

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?
Why this matters to you: Where you buy sets the price, the trial and who handles problems. Check the seller's terms, not just the brand's.

Phone 833.244.6288 toll free or 403.287.1960 local; email mattress@vonviva.com; orders and consultations run through vonviva.com or in person at the Calgary factory showroom, which the brand also calls its store. In-person pickup is allowed and rewarded with a store credit roughly equal to the shipping saved.
No third-party retailers, dealers, department stores or online marketplaces were found stocking the brand as of Sept 2026, so there is no retail floor to test the beds before buying. Chapter 12
Von Viva vs. other mattress brands
Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for both beds. Line up price, trial and warranty for each one.
Von Viva is a small Canadian factory-direct maker, not a mass-market brand.
Its published differentiators: building since 1976 with over 40 years of experience, made in Calgary, Alberta; build-to-order rather than inventory-led, so no one-firmness-fits-all compromise; genuinely modular construction with replaceable, flippable, zippable components; per-side and per-zone firmness across 8 or more levels, which is unusual outside airbeds and a handful of luxury makers; a real oversized specialism in Alaskan King, Wyoming King and family beds plus custom sizes, depths and shapes; and organic, latex and memory-foam-free builds.
Trade-offs versus typical direct-to-consumer and retail brands: no published prices for the six standard models, a 2-4 week build plus 6-12 day shipping rather than next-day delivery, returns refunding 75% of price minus shipping rather than a 100-night full refund, no old-mattress removal, no retail showroom network to try the beds, no third-party review evidence, and a US sales pause on finished mattresses.
Independent head-to-head testing or comparison coverage against other brands was not published as of Sept 2026, so comparisons here rest on published specifications rather than measured performance.
Competitor details reflect published prices and specs on the date shown. Mattress brands may update prices and trial terms over time.
Chapter 13
How we research and report
This page is an early draft built from our research sheet for Von Viva. We read the brand's own pages and public listings, and we do not test mattresses ourselves. Fields marked "Not yet researched" are still being checked.
This entry was researched in September 2026 by reading the brand's official site first, principally vonviva.com/mattresses plus the hybrid, pocket-coil, latex, oversized-mattress, components, about, Von Viva 101, for-designers, warranty and FAQ, and terms pages, then checking retailer and marketplace listings, then searching for independent reviews and complaints. Prices were taken from the live product and component listings on vonviva.com.
Where sources were silent, absent or contradictory that is stated rather than filled in, and the brand's own performance and durability claims are labelled as brand-reported rather than verified. No physical testing, sleep testing, foam measurement or lab verification was performed for this profile, and warranty wording conflicts on the site are reported as published. Fields with nothing verifiable are marked Not published as of Sept 2026.

Quick Answers Before You Buy
Safety and materials
Buying and policies
How much does a Von Viva mattress cost?
Prices for the six standard models are not published and are quoted after consultation, while oversized Von Epica models start at CAD $4,188 for Kona, $4,934 for Denali, $5,197 for Empress and $7,349 for Everest, and individual components run from about USD $81 to $1,196.
Can I try one before buying?
Not in a retail store. There is no dealer network and no published showroom trial programme; consultations happen by phone, web or at the Calgary factory, and the reassurance offered is the 120-day adjustment window plus a 75% refund return rather than a full money-back trial.
How long until it arrives?
Build is 2-4 weeks and shipping 6-12 days, with oversized mattresses taking about 5 weeks end to end; US buyers currently cannot order finished mattresses at all while fire-rating certification is pending, although components still ship.
Do I need to assemble it?
Yes, but no tools are needed. Components arrive labeled and palletized, the zip cover is laid out, components drop in bottom to top and the cover zips closed, taking roughly 10-15 minutes for the mattress and under 45 minutes including a foundation.
What if the firmness is wrong?
Because the mattress is modular the brand ships replacement or adjusted components, normally at cost of material plus delivery, rather than replacing the whole mattress, and different right and left firmness is set at order time.
What is the warranty and return policy?
A 15-year pro-rated warranty from receipt with a 5-year zip cover and 5-year fabric wear coverage, plus coil coverage for pocket-coil models, and returns accepted for a 75% refund minus shipping with the customer paying return freight.
