The 30-Second Verdict: Quick Summary

Wyoming King Bed Company is an oversized-bed specialist. Since 2001 it has hand-built one 7 ft by 7 ft (84 by 84 inch) mattress in North Carolina. It comes in three models: The Original, The Royale and The Grand Royale. Prices run $2,100 to $7,500, with free curbside shipping. You should know that mattresses are final sale. There's no trial, and you can't return one once it's delivered. If you want a bed bigger than a standard king, it's one of few options. If you want to test before you commit, look elsewhere.

Chapter 02

Comfort and firmness: which mattress fits you

Why this matters to you: Feel names are the brand's words, not measurements. Use them to shortlist two or three beds, then let your body decide.

Back and stomach sleepers: The Original's firm organic-cotton build, or the firm side of The Grand Royale. Side sleepers: The Royale in Soft or Medium, which the brand's own side-sleeper guide recommends for latex pressure relief, or the medium side of The Grand Royale. Hot sleepers: The Royale or Grand Royale, which pair a cashmere cover with HyperCool and open-cell latex airflow.

Couples, co-sleeping families, kids, pets and tall sleepers: any model in 84x84 in, which is 8 in wider and 4 in longer than a standard king. Firmness is selectable only on The Royale (Soft, Medium, Firm); The Original is firm only and The Grand Royale is two-sided. A dedicated plush or pillow-top option beyond The Royale Soft is Not published as of Sept 2026, and non-standard sizes require a phone order.

Which Wyoming King Bed Company feel fits you?

Weight chart not yet researched

Weight and sleep position can change how a bed feels. We have not yet checked whether Wyoming King Bed Company publishes a fit chart by body weight, so use a trial, where one is offered, to test the bed the way you sleep at home.

Four alignment checkpoints against a neutral posture line Neck Shoulders Lower back Hips level with spine sink in, no pinch no gap below no sag Straight spine line
  1. Neck: on your side, your nose should line up with the middle of your chest, not tip up or down.
  2. Shoulders: your bottom shoulder should sink in. Tingling or a numb arm means the bed is too firm for you.
  3. Lower back: on your back, slide a flat hand under your waist. A big gap means too firm; no room at all can mean too soft.
  4. Hips: ask someone to look from the side. Hips lower than shoulders means the bed is too soft for you.
Figure 2.1: Four checks to run in a store, lying still in the position you sleep in most. The store test in chapter 11 says how long to lie on each bed.
Chapter 03

Compare the mattresses

Why this matters to you: Models from one brand can differ in feel, height and layers. Match the feel label and height to how you sleep before you compare prices.

Wyoming King Bed Company lists 3 models. Feel names are the brand's labels.

MODEL 1 - The Original (11 in, firm; also called the Original Wyoming King mattress): the entry model, described by the brand as "a firm and supportive sleeping surface for sleepers of all shapes and sizes," with a quilted organic cotton cover, a 2 in HyperCool comfort layer and a PostureSupport base; sold in one size, 84x84x11 in; sale $2,100 (reg. $2,800, $700 off); 17 brand-site reviews, 94% five-star.

Best for back and stomach sleepers and value-focused buyers.

MODEL 2 - The Royale (12 in, soft/medium/firm): the mid-tier model with "a luxurious and baby-soft cashmere cover" over a 2 in HyperCool layer, 2 in of natural latex foam and a PostureSupport base for pressure relief, temperature regulation and durability; sold in one size, 84x84x12 in, and the only model with selectable Soft, Medium or Firm feel; $2,600 (reg. $3,600, $1,000 off); 55 reviews, 89% five-star.

Best for side sleepers wanting latex pressure relief.

MODEL 3 - The Grand Royale (15 in, two-sided firm/medium; the page copy also calls it the Grand Luxe): the flagship, "a lavish, two-sided mattress thoughtfully engineered for optimal sleep ergonomics" with a 100% breathable cashmere cover, HyperCool material and open-cell natural latex, offering "a firm side for deep back support and a medium feel side for better pressure point relief"; sold in one size, 84x84x15 in; $7,500; 9 reviews, 100% five-star; includes free white-glove delivery, setup, packaging disposal and a three-year annual flip, rotate and clean care plan.

Best for luxury buyers wanting a flippable two-feel bed.

Mattress prices and value

Why this matters to you: A starting price can rise with size, base and delivery. Get the full price for your size in writing before you choose.

The Original: $2,100 on sale, down from $2,800, for 84x84x11 in. The Royale: $2,600 on sale, down from $3,600, for 84x84x12 in in Soft, Medium or Firm. The Grand Royale: $7,500 for 84x84x15 in.

Sale prices may end; confirm current pricing. Value verdict: fair for a USA-made custom oversized mattress with no mainstream rival at 84x84 in, and cheaper than the sister brand Alaskan King Bed Company, whose same-named Grand Royale starts around $10,000, but weak on flexibility value because mattresses are made to order and final sale with no trial or return, and rush production adds $400 for a mattress, $500 for a frame or $600 for both.

Financing is via Affirm at 0% to 36% APR over 3, 6 or 18 months, subject to credit check and approval, with the Grand Royale page advertising no money down and 0% APR; limited options apply under $350.

Chapter 05

How well do the mattresses hold up?

Why this matters to you: A mattress is a long buy. Lean on the written warranty and real owner reports to judge how it will last.

Officially, the brand stands behind the beds with a 10-year limited warranty covering impressions over 1.5 in, foam cracking from a physical flaw and cover zipper defects, and its flagship Grand Royale is two-sided so it can be flipped for even wear, with a free care plan that sends a team once a year for the first three years to flip, rotate and clean the mattress.

Published care guidance is to rotate the mattress every six months, use a mattress protector, spot clean with warm water and mild detergent, and avoid benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acids and chlorine bleach.

Independent long-term durability testing or owner durability reports at the 5-year-plus mark are Not published as of Sept 2026, and the brand site publishes no review dates, so how these beds age in real bedrooms is unverified; the closest durability signal is an owner complaint about soft edge support on The Royale.

Sleep trials, returns, exchanges and fees

Why this matters to you: Feel is hard to judge in a store or in a week. Know your exit plan and its cost before you pay.

There is no published sleep trial, and the returns page states flatly that "Mattresses and furniture are not eligible for returns or exchanges once delivered." Returns are limited to bedding: unopened bedding can be returned within 30 days of receipt for a refund with a 10% restocking fee, and the customer pays original shipping and return shipping, while sale bedding is final sale.

Cancellations after the order ships but before a delivery attempt cost round-trip shipping plus a 30% restocking fee, and once a delivery attempt is made cancellation is not possible. Exchanges are not offered for mattresses. Because every bed is made to order and non-returnable, confirm dimensions, firmness choice and door clearance before ordering by calling +1 877 267 7772.

Delivery, setup and old-mattress removal

Why this matters to you: Delivery terms decide your first week with the bed. Confirm the date, setup and old-bed removal before you pay.

Free ground shipping to the contiguous 48 states from the company's North Carolina workshop, typically 1-3 weeks with the caveat that it may ship sooner or a little later, and rush production is available by phone.

Mattresses and bed frames ship FedEx Ground or LTL freight Monday to Friday excluding holidays, curbside by default, and arrive in one piece folded in half to fit a standard doorway; the FAQ says to unpack the mattress within two weeks so it can expand completely.

White-glove delivery with in-home setup, bed-frame assembly if bought together and done-for-you packaging disposal is free only with The Grand Royale, and the team cannot move furniture not purchased from the brand, so customers must clear the space.

Extra fees: rush production $400 mattress, $500 bed frame, $600 combined; storage at the local terminal beyond 24 hours $50-$75 per day; cancellation after shipping but before a delivery attempt costs round-trip shipping plus a 30% restocking fee; high-rise, long-driveway or unusual-space deliveries may add fees. Canada orders are quoted by phone and international buyers use their own freight forwarder.

Old-mattress removal: Not published as of Sept 2026.

Typical wait: 1 to 3 weeks

Chapter 08

Terms checked on the brand's site · recheck before you buy

What do the warranties cover?

Why this matters to you: A warranty is only as good as its terms. Read the written terms and use a supported base, because the wrong frame can end coverage.

Mattresses carry a 10-year limited warranty, shortened to 3 years for trade customers, and it is non-transferable and limited to the original purchaser in the US (Canada not covered) with proof of purchase required. Covered: sagging or indentation greater than 1.5 in not caused by an improper foundation, foam splitting or cracking from a physical flaw under normal use, and zipper assembly defects in the cover.

Excluded: normal foam softening, "Comfort preference," abuse or damage such as burns, cuts, tears, liquids and stains, commercial use unless a trade customer, mattresses bought from unauthorized resellers, and used, reconditioned or as-is mattresses.

The remedy is repair or replacement of the mattress or mattress cover at the company's choice, with no proration and no cash refunds; upgrades are possible if the buyer pays the price difference, and WKBC pays return shipping. Replacement or repair keeps the original purchase date as the term start, while an upgrade starts a new term. Sheets and mattress protectors carry 1-year limited warranties and furniture carries 2 years, 3 for trade.

Claims go to support@custommattressfactory.com or the Conover, NC address, and disputes go to binding arbitration in North Carolina under AAA commercial rules.

Review counts checked on each site · they change daily

Customer reviews and complaints

Why this matters to you: Star ratings depend on who posts and where. Read the low-star reviews for patterns, not just the average.

On the brand's own review pages, the site shows reviews with 90% at five stars (per-model counts total 81), 7% at four stars and roughly 1% each at three, two and one star. Per model: The Grand Royale 9 reviews, 100% five-star; The Original 17 reviews, 94% five-star and 6% four-star; The Royale 55 reviews, 89% five-star and 11% four-star.

Praise themes include "Best mattress we've ever owned," room and comfort for families and tall sleepers, sturdy easy-assembly frames, fast shipping and soft bedding.

Complaints found: a $150 mattress protector that "is NOT waterproof," with the company replying it is water-resistant rather than waterproof, bamboo sheets that the buyer said "shrink after first wash," a Royale owner who wished the edges were firmer because "when you sat on the edge, you didn't slip off easily," and an Original owner reporting it was "way firmer than I expected." One reviewer described the bed as 7 ft x 7 ft.

What are the mattresses made of?

Why this matters to you: Layer names say little without numbers. Ask what is inside your exact model, layer by layer.

All three mattresses are one-piece designs made with CertiPUR-US certified foams, meaning no ozone depleters, no heavy metals such as mercury or lead, no prohibited phthalates, no formaldehyde and no PBDE fire retardants, with low VOCs, and all are described as handcrafted in the USA. The Original: quilted organic cotton cover, 2 in HyperCool material and a PostureSupport base.

The Royale: quilted cashmere cover, 2 in HyperCool layer, 2 in natural latex foam and a PostureSupport base, with organic cotton also named in the model description. The Grand Royale: 100% breathable cashmere cover, HyperCool material and open-cell natural latex across a two-sided build. A full layer-by-layer breakdown with foam densities, ILD ratings or latex sourcing is Not published as of Sept 2026.

Mattresses ship assembled in one piece and folded in half rather than compressed in a box, which the brand credits as its original mattress-in-a-box concept.

Where can you try and buy the mattresses?

Why this matters to you: Where you buy sets the price, the trial and who handles problems. Check the seller's terms, not just the brand's.

Buy direct at wyomingkingbeds.com, or book a showroom and workshop visit in Claremont, North Carolina, open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, where the brand invites shoppers to "Schedule a visit to our workshop and experience the Wyoming King firsthand." Note that the Stores page names Claremont, NC while the FAQ and warranty give Conover, NC as the workshop and warrantor address, and the site does not reconcile the two; the full showroom street address is Not published as of Sept 2026.

Chapter 12

Wyoming King Bed Company vs. other mattress brands

Why this matters to you: A fair comparison needs the same facts for both beds. Line up price, trial and warranty for each one.

Wyoming King Bed Company is an oversized-bed specialist rather than a full-line brand: it is a Custom Mattress Factory brand, sister to AlaskanKingBeds.com and CustomMattressFactory.com, trading since 2001 out of North Carolina, and it shares its Original, Royale and Grand Royale model names with its Alaskan King sibling, where the same flagship starts around $10,000 versus $7,500 here.

Against mainstream brands such as Tempur-Pedic, Saatva or Sleep Number, the difference is size and process: a standard king is 76x80 in, so the 84x84 in Wyoming King adds 8 in of width and 4 in of length, but it is made to order, direct-only, and sold without a trial or returns.

Against other giants, a 96x96 in Alberta King or 108x108 in Alaskan King is larger, and a third-party Amazon listing sells a Triad Majestic 84x84 in natural latex Wyoming King for about $2,700, but such listings publish no comparable warranty, white-glove delivery or care-plan detail. Independent head-to-head mattress testing including this brand: Not published as of Sept 2026.

Competitor details reflect published prices and specs on the date shown. Mattress brands may update prices and trial terms over time.
Chapter 13

How we research and report

This page is an early draft built from our research sheet for Wyoming King Bed Company. We read the brand's own pages and public listings, and we do not test mattresses ourselves. Fields marked "Not yet researched" are still being checked.

We worked from the official wyomingkingbeds.com product pages for The Original, The Royale and The Grand Royale plus the mattress collection, buyer's guide, brand, factory tour, shipping and delivery, returns, warranty, care, financing, reviews, stores and FAQ pages, taking prices ($2,100, $2,600 and $7,500), the 84x84 in size and heights, materials, firmness options, delivery terms and policy wording from official text and page data.

We then checked BBB, Trustpilot, Sitejabber, Reddit, Amazon and general search results for independent reviews and complaints, and looked at the sister brand Alaskan King Bed Company plus standard-size and oversized competitors for comparison. Where terms were not published, we marked the item Not published as of Sept 2026 rather than guessing, and official brand claims are kept separate from buyer-reported findings throughout.

Quick Answers

Quick Answers Before You Buy

Safety and materials
Buying and policies

How big is a Wyoming King bed?

84x84 in, or 7 ft x 7 ft, making it 8 in wider and 4 in longer than a standard king but 24 in narrower and 24 in shorter than a 108x108 in Alaskan King.

Which firmness should I choose?

The Original is firm only, The Royale comes in Soft, Medium or Firm, and The Grand Royale is two-sided with a firm side and a medium side, so most side sleepers pick a Royale and back or stomach sleepers pick The Original or the firm side.

Is there a sleep trial, and can I return a mattress?

No; no trial is published and mattresses and furniture are not eligible for returns or exchanges once delivered, while only unopened bedding can be returned within 30 days with a 10% restocking fee plus shipping.

How much is delivery and how long does it take?

Free curbside shipping in the contiguous 48 states, typically 1-3 weeks, with white-glove delivery, setup and packaging disposal included free only on The Grand Royale and rush production costing $400-$600.

What does the warranty cover?

A 10-year non-transferable limited mattress warranty, 3 years for trade, covering impressions over 1.5 in, foam cracking from a physical flaw and cover zipper defects for the original US purchaser with a receipt.

Will a 7 ft bed fit through my door?

Yes; mattresses ship in one piece folded in half to pass a standard doorway, and the FAQ says to unbox within two weeks so it expands fully.
