The 30-second verdict

Yes, most buyers can choose Bear Pro Foam, but deep sinkage may be a problem if you sleep on your back or stomach. The Queen list price is $1,427, so be sure you want an all-foam feel before spending that much. Bear calls it medium-firm, so skip it if you prefer a softer bed. Buy it only if its feel and fit are right for you.

Pros
  • Supportive edges. You get good support when sitting or lying near the mattress edges.
  • Adjustable base. Bear recommends an adjustable base, so you can use that setup.
  • Fiberglass-free build. Bear says it meets fire safety rules without fiberglass.
Cons
  • Motion carries. A partner's movement will carry across the bed, so you may notice shifts.
  • Box spring mismatch. A box spring is not compatible, so you will need another base.
  • Slat spacing limit. Slats more than 5.5 inches apart are not compatible, so check your frame before you buy.
  • Return wait. You must wait 30 nights before you can request a free return.
Feel & Fit

How firm is the Pro Foam, and which firmness should you pick?

Bear calls its option Medium-Firm. Bear rates it 6.5-7/10 on its firmness scale. Pick it if you want Bear’s stated medium-firm feel. Use the rating to compare this mattress with a firmness level you know you like. Bear’s words describe this mattress. They do not promise it will feel the same to you. Before you choose, think about firmness you have found comfortable before. That gives you a personal point to help decide if Bear’s stated feel fits what you like.

Is the Pro Foam right for your sleep position and body weight?

Yes. Bear Pro Foam is rated as a fit for side, back, and stomach sleepers across the listed weight bands. NapLab gives all three positions a yes rating for people under 150 lbs., 150-250 lbs., and 250-300 lbs. Side sleepers get the clearest support signal: support is good. Back and stomach sleepers have a caution: very deep sinkage may not be ideal for them. That matters if you prefer less sinkage.

Combination sleepers can consider this bed. It felt supportive in all positions in testing, a useful sign if you change positions overnight. Edge support is a plus: sitting edge support is outstanding and lying edge support is excellent. That may matter if you sit or sleep near the edge.

Is the Pro Foam good for back pain?

The Bear Pro Foam's support claims do not promise back-pain relief. Bear says its high-density foam base promotes proper spinal alignment and provides a stable, supportive feel. It meets NapLab’s checks for spinal alignment and pressure relief, with no major issues, but the deep sinkage may not suit back sleepers. That trade-off matters if you sleep on your back.

How cool or hot does it sleep?

NapLab’s readings suggest this bed may sleep warm, not neutral. NapLab recorded a baseline of 81.1° F and a max of 92.1° F. Its ending temperature was 83.0° F. This shows heat build-up during its test. Bear says the quilted Celliant® Infrared Cover fibers turn excess body heat into infrared energy. Gel Swirl Memory Foam gel draws heat away and spreads it. These are the bed’s listed cooling features. But the readings give hot sleepers reason to be cautious.

Will you feel your partner move?

Yes, you may feel your partner move: NapLab rated motion transfer moderate and measured 10.19 m/s² acceleration. If your partner moves a lot, some motion may reach you. The bed may not feel fully still. NapLab also rated bounce low and measured 7.04 inches total. This may mean the bed feels less springy. But low bounce does not cancel the motion-transfer reading. If your partner's moves wake you, take care before choosing the Bear Pro Foam.

How is it built?

The Bear Pro Foam has a quilted cover, foam layers, and a dense foam base.

  • Top: Quilted Celliant® Infrared Cover. Bear says it uses plush fabric with infrared-converting fibers.
  • Extra Quilt Foam. Bear says it cushions and cradles joints on contact.
  • Gel Swirl Memory Foam. Bear says it has gel-infused memory foam for a cooling effect.
  • Responsive Comfort Foam. Bear says it is firmer and has a slight bounce.
  • High-Density Foundation Foam: 5 in of resilient, high-density foam.

The Queen weighs 68 lb, so account for that when moving it. Bear says the mattress is assembled in the USA.

Materials and certifications

Bear says the cover is a plush, protective fabric. Its fibers turn extra body heat into infrared energy.

Bear says its foam is CertiPUR-US® certified. The brand says UL certifies the Pro mattress as GREENGUARD Gold for low emissions. When you compare these marks, check if each is for the foam or the mattress.

Does the Pro Foam have fiberglass?

Bear says the Bear Pro Foam is fiberglass-free. It meets federal mattress rules without fiberglass fabric. To see the bed’s materials, check its law tag. It lists them. You can read the list before you buy. Then decide if those materials fit what you want in a mattress.

What bed base does it need?

A firm, flat platform or slatted base works if slats are 5.5 inches apart or less. Bear recommends an adjustable base. It must match and support the mattress and sleepers, and sit on a proper bed frame. A box spring is not compatible; use a firm, flat, sturdy foundation instead. Slats more than 5.5 inches apart void the warranty. Sag or indentations from an unsupported adjustable base are not covered. A metal frame needs a supportive base on top. Floor use is an exception. It needs airflow and a level, evenly supportive surface.

Metal frame Allowed with limits (use a foundation or base between frame and mattress; slats at least 2 inches wide and no more than 5.5 inches apart)A frame alone is not enough; the mattress needs a supportive foundation or base on top of the frame. Improper support systems or unsupported bed frames may void the mattress warranty.

How long will it last, and does it need flipping or rotating?

Bear requires at least 30 nights before a free return request during its 365-night trial. SquishMat says low-density foam tends to soften and take body impressions sooner, especially under heavier sleepers. That is general foam guidance, not a lifespan prediction for the Bear Pro Foam. Use Bear's threshold to decide when to request a return if the mattress does not feel right.

Bear says mattresses purchased starting 02/01/2025 have a limited lifetime warranty. It covers visible indentations greater than 1.5 inches.
